Big Party Grainne, Big Party! I want everybody to dance and wreck the feckin church. I believe death is just a change of address, with a better life awaiting us so I want people to celebrate for me.
You obviously believe in an 'after life' then, and good look to you.
PS Sorry to spoil the party!

I respect all your beliefs folks, whether they are the same as mine or not.

My father liked "you raise me up" ( not the westlife version) and the tenor sang it at his funeral. Can't listen to it now!!!

My Dad was a Corkmans so we playd "The Banks" for him as he was carried out. Can't watch a Cork match without thinking of him, although this year I mightn't get the chance!

Actually, the most beautiful funeral music you could possibly have is here, though it might be a bit conservative for some tastes. I would like it at mine but it would be nearly impossible to have it done properly.

Gabriel Faure - Requiem in D minor, OP 48 " In Paradisum"

It's not conservative at all, but yeah, you need the full choir to do it properly. A favourite of mine, I imagine when they sing 'Jerusalem' being shown the gates of heaven by angels. Assuming I go up, not down, of course.

Heard a lotta stuff at funerals, mostly forgettable.
Best I ever heard tho' was in the Brompton Oratory in London some years back......Billie Holliday's all time classic...: "Please don't talk about me"

" Please don't talk about me when I'm gone
Honey, tho our friendship is now gone
And if you can't say something nice
Better not talk at all is my advice "

Been recorded by some of the alltime greats....Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald (with Count Basie), Willie Nelson, Jerry Lee Lewis, Dean Martin, Ann-Margret, Leon Redbone plus a host of others.

Oh, them wuz the days.../

Tut tut tut, given the morbidly obsessed nature of our culture, how easily you all rely on foreign songs for your funerals ;)

Plenty of good Irish ones.
