There are reports that high profile developer Hugh O'Regan has taken his own life.

Very sad news for the family and those close to him.

Rip but this will go only one way. Downward! I'd recommend pulling it.

That is sad news. Money should not be causing people to take their own lives.

I think people will be more understanding than you might expect.

The only difference between Mr O'Regan and many others is the decimal point.
I really think it was ill advised of you to start this thread.

If anyone wants to really reveal what they really are then let them. If its happened then its worth discussing.

Some people are extremely ignorant but its better you know who they are and ignore them rather then let everyone be left in the dark.

While not knowing the man, my thoughts are with his friends and family.

Stress and thoughts that you have failed are terrible on a person's mental health. Suicide is not the answer, they can take everything from you, one thing they cannot take and the most valuable thing you have, is yourself.

Will the newspapers report the story tomorrow?

I don't see why the subject should be off limits here, within reason.
No I don't either - and I don't think anything wrong with starting this thread - was on twitter & a few sites since 2pm

Too much suicide in this country - rather then sweep it under the carpet it needs addressed.

Thoughts with his family

Sometimes putting a human face to a tragedy can help to crystalize the debate.

The death of Savita Halappanavar has focused everybody on the need to act on our abortion laws.

Most of us would have some awareness of Hugh O'Regan, and maybe his tragic death will help to bring our Dickensian bankruptcy laws into the spotlight. Not before time.

You've been here long enough not to expect 'within reason'.

Mods, if you are discussing this thread, please don't remove it,

This is a very important issue and it should be discussed,

If idiots make snide comments, than so be it,

RIP Hugh, condolences to your family and friends.
