The totalitarian nature of the EU's vision of a superstate drives Boris Johnson to compare the EU and its institutions to attempts made by Roman, French and German dictatorial terror regimes throughout history. Last but not least the EU undermines the UK dominance in a number of areas such as military activity, financial services and exports. The EU has allowed Germany once again to rule Europe, take over the Italian economy and destroy Greece. While NATO was meant to keep German military down the EU was designed to destroy German economic supremacy in the world but as is now obvious failed miserably at the task says Johnson. The Germans are really too good at exporting that's why the Brits once again have to conspire against them to protect UK political interests around the world.

Boris Johnson: The EU wants a superstate, just as Hitler did

Johnson is a nasty piece of work.
He is pushing for Brexit so he becomes Tory Leader & PM, no matter the cost.

He has previous - google Darius Guppy.

As I said before, all about Johnson.

He was fired from the Times as a trainee for his expenses.
'The EU uses "different methods" but you still get a rich taste of what the Third Reich is all about.'

Johnson says EU on same doomed path as Nazis - RTÉ News

His skills would be best deployed at The Sun I'd say. But this is nothing new British fear of German supremacy is as old as the UK itself.

I like Boris myself but the cost of staying in the EU is higher than leaving. The EU is dying on it's feet The Euro and this constant moving towards political union has seen to that.

He isn't wrong. He should not have mentioned Hitler and should have mentioned Charlemagne, the Habsburg dynasty and the Holy Roman Empire, so that his opponents wouldn't have such a field day, but what he said is essentially true.
Germany didn't exist until the late 19th century.
The HRE was a federation that worked & actually gave its component states significant subsidiarity.

He is probably a psychopath, he has so many of the traits: shallow charm, glibness, unflappability, risk taking, sexually promiscuous, grandiose self image and ambitions, no moral compass, lack of empathy often well hidden behind the genial mask but often also the mask drops and he says appalling things casually, a trail of destruction in personal relationships, lack of genuine remorse...
This whole thing is (for Boris) all a gamble on his own future, he wants the top job in Britain and doesn't really care too much about the repercussions to anyone else either way as long as he wins. His actions and words leading up to his decision on whether to go stay or leave is not the actions or thoughts of someone who has so little doubt about the EU.

Gadwins Law comes in to play again
With all those Brexit warnings coming out this week, they need to come up with some counter argument I guess

but the EU = NAZI theme has been at the core of criticisms for a very long time now. this discussion is led by the UK but is also quite common in the republic.

Tory boy hops on band wagon to serve his self interest only. In short, a fooking ejit seeking to capitalise on the proles anti German bias.

You mean on p.ie. I've yet to meet anyone in Real life who does. It's also a stupid argument that runs out of road the minute you say it. Brexit needs people other than the larger than life Johnson and the snarling Farage to change minds. If they can't find them and some intelligent arguments it will go down for certain.

Comparing 1930s Nazi Germany and the EU is a lazy hagiography with little to recommend it.

That depends on what part of it you are trying to compare.

There may not be the antisemitism but the desire to concentrate ever more power into the hands of an unrepresentative minority is real enough.
