Banks all over the world are trying to move their customers onto different channels (Internet, Phone, Mobile, etc). However there is still huge worth in talking to their customers face to face, that's how they crosssell. So the bank branch still has a role to play. A lot of banks are rejigging their branch layouts though, so that the "relationship" emphasis is front and center, and the service aspect is pushed to the background. Bank of Ireland are actually looking at this at the moment.

Less than 7 years ago, the ESB (ESB Retail) sold many of it's offices to Bank of Scotland Ireland (BOSI), so that it (BOSI) could open a branch network here in this country.

Changed times utterly in banking throughout Ireland.

Bank of Ireland AND AIB are rejigging their front of house so that bank staff redundancies may follow. 'Customer migration' my backside.... It is about moving customers from the desk to other more automated 'channels' so that staff have fewer customers to deal with and will offer even less counter services to counter customers. eg Let's say that I want to lodge some cash into your account at the counter..Bank of Ireland no longer input a 'narrative' on the lodgement to indicate who/where the money came from...

This is just a small example of reduced manpower and reduced service at your local branch. Expect more queues in your 'relationship' with banks....

More automation, less banks, more internet banking, less cheques........etc.

Fees will surely fall :)

I have a life.
perhaps.

But what happens to customers if there is another scare at a bank that has no branches, who want to reclaim their deposits?
On line transfer to PayPal, while they allow you....or:

.......for those folks who don't have a bank account and credit card your only other option is to get approved for a PayPal Plus Credit Card, or PayPal Buyer Credit. PayPal requires that you verify your Account meaning you must be able to prove who you say you are. Normally a bank account and credit card works however, they will accecpt the other option. If you cannot verify your Account, you will have limitations on what you can do.....or:
