Very random thread, i am currently researching National Socialism and I came across this a number of weeks ago and it got me thinking.

What is National Socialism? Is it still relevant?

This piece in the article really hit home considering Irelands current problems

National Socialism is the opposite of international finance capitalism, i.e. the opposite of globalization. Under National Socialism, engineers would not lose their jobs to outsourcing, and great industrial cities would not be disintegrating and turning back to farmland. There would be no such thing as Goldman Sachs, or the Federal Reserve, or big box stores full of merchandise from China. If China were National Socialist too, the Chinese economy would not depend on exports. Instead of a globalized economy, there would be independent national economies. International trade would still exist (you could still drive a Honda if that's what you want), but it would be a fraction of what it is now. The financial system would be simple and straightforward; there would be no such thing as "derivatives". The economy would be based on industry, not on finance, insurance, real estate, casinos, and prisons.
There would be no dumbing-down policy in the schools or anywhere else.
Instead of dying, the oceans would be flourishing. On land, desertification would be reversed. The "cancer industry" would not exist. The environmental and psychological causes of cancer would be addressed, and cancer would be rare. There would be no need to argue about how to pay for health care, because most people would normally stay healthy without "health care" as we know it today.
Under National Socialism, cities would not be full of drunks and homeless people. There would be no such thing as multiculturalism, or political correctness, or affirmative action. Schools would not teach kids to listen to hip-hop. First world countries would not turn themselves into third world countries. Just the opposite: National Socialism represents the gentrification of the world.
I did not know most of this until recently.
My question is that if a party came along with these sort of policies, would it catch on in ireland?

What policies do you think are in that paragraph? There are aspirations and wooly ideas. There are no policies.

And the answer is of course not. No party with the words "National socialist" is going to get anywhere in Ireland.

Im afraid it probably would, as many of the Irish just ape what they see in Britain, and they have picked up a lot of racist views from the British.

Whoever wrote this is a lunatic. Whoever thinks this "hits home" is a lunatic.

There certainly was in Nazi Germany. However is also arguable that the National Socialist programme, or at any rate most of it, could have implemented without the atrocities which took place under the Nazis.

After all, National Socialism was supported and admired by many people in the 30's, not only in Germany, who would have been shocked and horrified if you had accused them of favouring atrocities.

What needs to be addressed here is the worries of the ordinary person. We currently see bankers causing economic ruin (Anglo Irish). As a result health services and other genuine reasons to have a government are suffering. This allows nutcases (i normally do not like to lable people but c'mon "desertification would not exist"!!) to gain support from the disillusioned members of society. What is needed is a rational (not party political) response to the current environment. What this country does not need is the introduction and rise of national socialism which can be read as racism and intolerance justified by meaningless spin (have we not had enough of spin being used to cover injustice to society?)

Funny you should say that now.

Just the other day right here on P.ie we had one of your fellow traveller anti FF's wondered about a "final solution" for FF and not an eyebrow or objection was raised and yes, the phrase was used quite deliberately.

This may come as a surprise to you but I see a lot of similarities between the attitudes of some, to put it no stronger, of the anti's on this site and the early days of the nazi movement.

Indeed, if I weren’t so sure of their inability to organise a piss up in a brewery, I'd be genuinely concerned.

They were mostly anti-semites though. There was a lot of it about at the time, it seems. The past being a foreign (and very savage) country, don't you know?

Ah sure we'll give it a shot, see what happens...

This is mental mad sh1t. It can all be neatly grouped under Third Position politics along with the fascists, neo nazis, neopaganism and environmentalism.

Scholars, such as Roger Griffin, view Third Positionism as a minor branch of fascism, which rejects both Marxism and liberalism for a form of racial socialism or, more precisely, an ideology which combines a tribal form of racial nationalism with a corporatist, distributist or solidarist economic system. The main precursors of Third Position politics are National Bolshevism, a synthesis of nationalism and Bolshevik communism, and Strasserism, a radical, mass-action and worker-based form of Nazism
Third Position - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Some of the Paleoconservative loonies like the Rockford Institute in the States have embraced it too.

If you hate banks it their current format there are other schools of economics that cater for that with alternatives which doesn't involve murdering people.

Jaysus do we not learn from history? Its only 80 years ago that this crap started to rise.

So the Brits, amongst their other sins, are responsible for our racism?

Christ on a stick!
Yes, because stupid Irish people cant do anything until they have seen the Brits doing it.
