ECB is about to publish a new wealth report soon and the data is politically sensitive to say the least. The ECB currently tries to postpone the release of the report but some of its numbers already surface in the media. It's not looking good for Angela in the fall elections ... Merkel the chance(r)llor for the rich.

here is the picture that we can expect to find in the final ECB wealth report (in '000 Euro)

blue: actual median distribution per person

orange: numerical average per person

it will be difficult to explain to people in Estonia and Slovakia why they have to fund bailouts for PIIGS if they finally take a look at the distribution of wealth in Europe. And Germany has a shocking imbalance between regular people and high net worth individuals, actually the worst in Europe. HNWIs push up the numerical average in Germany to the European midfield.

Ireland is still doing reasonably well with above average wealth and (more) balanced wealth distribution.

If you think that is bad then you should see the wealth just over the EU border in the Canton of Zug where the 'Rich Boys' hang out.

There is a coterie of 'combat traders' there who will bet on anything going via the financial system whether it be Oil tankers for warzones or raping a developing nation of agricultural commodities.

One of these bods is so wealthy the little tax he does pay actually exceeded the tax for the whole of the rest of the town of Zug.

I don't see how it can be politically sensitive, which countries are the richest is fairly common knowledge. Why would they do a report to release it, then want to postpone releasing it?

as you can see in the chart wealth in Germany is not evenly spread. and for the average Joe among the lowest in the EU at 33k.

and that is the direct result of austerity under Merkel rule in Germany over the last 8 years.

if the ecb postpones the report until after the elections it would help Angela to win.
