I can't even remember who the current one is..

Just shows how useless the LM is as an unelected pass the parcel incumbent on DCC.

There are presumably Mayors all over the place in each council. What the feck do they do apart from wearing a big chain for special occasions.

And guess who is on the Dublin chain, none other than King Billy himself

What - was he popularly elected, a sort of Irish Sadiq Khan??

The 'lord' mayor is a useless 'buggins turn' gig - the last one of them anyone can remember was Carmencita Hederman and that was about 30 years ago. He's hardly the first SF mayor either, is he?

Comhghairdeas to Donaghmede Sinn Fein Councillor Mícheál Mac Donncha on being voted in as Dublins new Mayor.

Mícheál has indicated that Housing will be a top priority and is already seeking a meeting with Minister Murphy.

So if there's still a homeless problem in Dublin 12 months' time can we assume that our beloved new SF Lord Mayor (I note that the word "Lord" is missing from the OP, I wonder why?) will put his hands up and admit that he made a b0llocks of it?

Or will he blame Minister Murphy?

Or will he come clean and admit that he has about as much influence on housing policy in Dublin as King Canute had on the waves of the sea?

"Cllr Mac Donncha was elected following a voting pact between Sinn Féin, Labour, the Green Party and some independents."

Mícheál Mac Donncha seems harmless enough :)

Apr 2012 he walked out of DCC meeting after Andrew Montague refused to take an emergency motion on the Household Charge

Sep 2015 he called people who run irish rugby "west brits"

But where did he stand on the Garth Brooks issue?

There was a report that SF had a "handler" sitting in the public gallery and that all newbie SF Councillors looked to him for a nod or otherwise before taking a position on any matter.

Dublin city LM is a token joke.

No power, no influence, no nothing other than a nice house on Dawson Street for a year.

What is the effin point please.

And that is why FF/FG/Lab etc kept SF away from it for decades.

Because they would not have the ability to read which business was upcoming in the Council and remember how to vote.
