The Government has refused to be drawn on suggestions that tolling companies are to be compensated for falling traffic volumes on the country's main motorways.

The Labour Party has claimed that the National Roads Authority entered into a deal with the Government to compensate the tolling firms if traffic volumes fall below a certain threshold.

They say compensation will now have to be paid out on the M3 which has lower than expected traffic flow.
