No WW2 Means No Stallinist Empire In Europe?

I have a view that there was only one world war in a European context, Which lasted a neat 75 years, 1914-1989. Obviously starting with German agression and ending with the collapse of Stallinism in Europe. Clearly no formal WW2 means the Stallinists could not have expanded beyond the Soviet Union, if even! I would love to hear your views!

Your thread does not make sense. If you are proposing a counter-factual like "What would have happened if Hitler was defeated in 1940", or "What would have happened if Hitler was assassinated in 1938", or even "What would have happened if Hitler died in hospital in 1918", then you would need to be a lot clearer.

The 1914-1989 period contains World War II whether you like it or not. Changing the names makes no difference.

Given the diametric opposition of the US and the Soviet Union in terms of ideology, the Cold War would still have happened. It wasn't so much over the fact that the Soviet Union occupied much of Eastern Europe, it was moreso to do with the fact that the Soviets sought to spread the influence of communism wherever they could.

The americans had an arms control plan called the Baruch plan which proposed that all atomic weapons would be under control of an international authority. No nation would be allowed have atomic weapons of its own.

Stalin rejected the plan as a violation of USSR sovereignty. And afterwards Bernard Baruch, the author of the plan, began to say that the US and USSR were in a cold war situation. Cold war (general term) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Anybody support my view of there having been just 1 world war, 75 years long - 1914-1989. All right there would have been some time to catch your breath between hostilities, but nonetheless 75 years!

Interesting quotes Pancho, thanks. Pat Buchanan's book Churchill, Hitler, and The Unnecessary War is a good read.

There was actually substantial continuity between Adenauer's (Christian Democrat) Germany and Nazi Germany.

The European Civil War kicked off in 1914 and ended a little later than 1989 taking into account the various breakups and breakaways.

Here,s hoping the 21st century is nothing like the 20th century nightmare.

Even the small question of the North of Ireland still has to be resolved.

When Hitler took power in Germany in 1933
there were 70% unemployment.
One pack of cigarettes costed 2 million marks.
Hitler got rid of the Feds.Jewish bankers.
In 5 years there was no more unemployment
but 1 million immigrants .
It was called the miracle of the volgswagon.

Churchil had problems. His father never accepted him.
He called Winston the little bastard since his
American mother used to jump from
one bed to another.

1914-89 is referred to by some historians as the 'short twentieth century' for more or less the reasons you have given.

I only asked one very simple question, care to answer it? preferably without added wibble.

Unemployment is never a great idea.
Political nutters thrive on it.

Just like any of your type you are incapeable of thinking for yourself and answering simple questions that challange your entire premiss.

Once again Tinkerbell, If the Jews and the Brits wanted to destroy Germany and kill all the Germans Blah blah blah, Why is Germany the most successful European Economy and a powerhouse within the EU.
IN YOUR OWN WORDS, (short ones obviously)
