Nothing.
The usual propagandashow from the northern regime. A lot of noisy farts and empty slogans....

Wait a sec, is 'martial law' a step up or step down from the norm in NK ?

The more the sanctions squeeze, the stronger SJC and the regime gets, and the worse the horror gets for the people,

Govts, the greatest cause of misery and death ever devised by man,

I reckon this must be the most diabolical regime on the planet today. A necrocracy of inhuman cruelty. Such a shame when one observes what Koreans can do when given the conditions to thrive.

North Korea is just a nightmare. Absolute nightmare. Here you have a regime that keeps total control over its "citizens", a place where you can actually be accused of thought crime if you look at someone the wrong way... which is why apparently if you walk even through Pyongyang, nobody makes eye contact.

I love George Orwell's 1984, and North Korea is the closest we have ever gotten to 1984. As Kevin said in the post above, it can be described as a "necrocracy" since its President is a dead man... Kim Il Sung. If President Obama, for example, were to send official correspondence to King Jong Un, it must start with "Dr Mr Secretary", and not Mr President.

Now the problem is North Korea does in fact have nuclear devices.. thought to be quite tame in terms of power but still capable of a blast. They have tested intercontinental ballistic missiles, and they put a satellite into orbit in December (though according to the U.S., the satellite is simply "tumbling through space" and doesn't seem to be operating in any way). Even beyond the fact that it clearly has nuclear material, It has an enormous amount of conventional fire power near the amusingly titled "Demilitarized Zone", and they are aimed at Seoul in South Korea. If the North attacked today, it would without doubt devastate Seoul.

On the border, where the South Korean military and North Korean military are pretty much face to face 24/7, the North sends their absolute best soldiers, but even at that, when they meet to talk, the soldiers from the South are an average 6 inches taller than their North Korean counterparts. Even NK's best soldiers are malnourished to the point that they are significantly shorter than SK's, even though genetically they are strongly similar.

It's a problem that will have to be faced sometime, and don't forget, the North has attacked South Korean vessels in the past few years. Some would call that an act of war, you have to admire how the South has managed to hold off on hitting the North with everything it has.

China could bring down North Korean regime at any time it wants. Shame it allows it to continually fester and to enslave its people in barbaric conditions.

If its not NKs usual pre-talks sabre rattling, then an internal purge is in the offing by the sounds of it. If it is that, then the public rhetoric might indicate the leadership is moving to head off a coup, as NK is under 'marshal law' at all times.

What utter chaos. Around 24m refugees?. A tiny amount for a rich country like China with a population of 1,354,000,000 to integrate. I'm sure South Korea would take some also. West Germany integrated with East Germany.

Poor staving peasants don't "integrate" evenly. They would cause choas in China's border regions.

The criminal gang running China know that if the Chinese peasants were to see the NK peasents rise up and free themselves from the criminal gang running NK, well, they might just get some ideas of their own,

"Turmoil baby, turmoil" it's scares the sh1t out of the Chinese commie elite!

I'm sure various Red Cross and other UN agencies could help at start. Food aid is already going into North Korea. Most already have homes and roofs over their heads, unlike in other refugee places.

China could pull the plug instead and regime collapses.
