There's no way this could all end in tears, right?

Hand over your guns folks, the govt won't hurt ye,

They'll care for you, trust them,

"America was built on individual liberty, and in order to protect that we must work together, we must have collectivism in order to protect individual liberty"

I've just checked insurance quotes for a husband, wife and three children from Health Insurance - Find Affordable Health Insurance Plans and Buy Medical Coverage Online

The cheapest quote was for $314 per month, or $3768 per year.
Something that cheap in the US would only cover basic hospital. It wouldn't include your doctor, specialists or prescriptions.

I heard a stat last week that the average American over their lifetime, pays about $100,000 into Medicare, but gets $400,000 worth of medical treatment out of Medicare.

in all fairness, the population don't appear to be trustworthy enough not to go on shooting rampages....
as for obamacare, while not familiar with the system...i think moving to a scandanavian, french, german or uk model will result in savings across the board which will lower the cost.
if you price universal healthcare based on current US prices then no doubt it will cost 20k....but if the price of delivering healthcare falls to european (except ireland) levels then its a totally different story.

The population???

320 million Americans, 7 or 8 gun rampages???

Does not compute!

And when govt is picking up the tab, prices always go up, always, coz they're spending other people's money,

In what State?
An excellent point. As far as I know, you have to buy your health insurance in the state in which you are resident. You can not buy it from another state because it is cheaper.

Most importantly, the US Constitution does not permit the Federal Govt to get involved in the healthcare business,

Not that Obama gives a hoot about the Constitution!

The US federal government provides Medicare coverage, provides health insurance to federal employees and operates the Veterans Administration healthcare system.

All have been in place for decades, and all are constitutional.

Obamacare obliges people to buy health insurance from private health insurers or pay a tax in lieu.

The US Supreme Court has ruled that it's constitutional.

Can they not get their doctors to work for less?

Other policies, with much lower Deductibles are available for ca. $600 per month, about $7200 per year. Still way below the $20,000 per year figure cited in the OP.

Can you quote the constitutional provision, and explain why the SC upheld the plan.
