They should be placed back on a plane to their home countries as soon as they turn 18.
That is the correct thing to do. 'You're no longer an unaccompanied minor, and off you go.'
There has to be an end to our State's liability to non-nationals, and clarity and certainty and no exceptions, would be good for all the parties involved.

Why?

I didnt realise you needed much of an education to claim welfare.
Little bit harsh BC.

If they were going to claim welfare I dont think they would bother doing the LC as they are only obliged to stay in school until they reach 16yo.

But I can understand why you would be sceptical.

According to the most recent CSO figures this scepticism may possibly arise from the fact that the number of Nigerians claiming benefits equals that of the next 5 non-EU nationalities COMBINED.

Hard not to spot a theme there...
Who said the students are Nigerian?

I know someone who had a baby recently and shared with a Nigerian. That Nigerian woman didn't even have a nightdress for herself and didn't even have a nappy for her baby!!
She ordered the midwife 'Get me a gown' She ordered the midwife 'Get me a nappy' Then to top it off her baby was crying and she kept ringing the alarm for the midwife to take her baby to the nursery because 'this baby is crying, his belly is cold, bring him to the nursery' so she didn't have to look after her own baby.

A disgrace but with all the emigration this is all we will be left with as they will never leave! They have it too easy here.

If life was comfortable in another country then why come to Ireland? Obviously it wasnt and the lads wanted to better themselves. Lest we forget all the Irish who went to Britian ,US,Canada and Australia. Imagine if they kicked Irish people out of the UK? Its not as if we are being over run with immigrants, they come here looking for a better life. Where does all this claiming benefits and free housing come from? I know lads in Dept of Social Welfare on Thomas St or whatever its called who said they are getting very little (i.e. the immigrants), they dont have enough stamps built up.

Cue more fairytales from the wonderful hand of JT Brooker, you could be the next Danielle Steel or Dan Brown JT..

That might be true of EU nationals but it certainly isnt the case with Nigerians or indeed other Africans. They have had everything thrown at them in this country including private housing. How do Nigerians who have claimed asylum and never worked survive then? I've never seen a homeless African on the streets, have you? How do asylum seekers who have been granted leave to remain get an opportunity to build up stamps if they have never worked? These people are NOT being denied social welfare.

Its far from fairytales unfortunately and this state will be paying for these people and their offspring for the rest of their existence.

What a scam.

How many of them do you reckon tried to sue the government of the countries they'd gone to or complained about their free housing to the media?

Ever heard of the 419 scam, that liar Pamela Izevbekhai with her phantom babies or the mayor of Portlaoise Rotimi Adebari who arrived here claiming his life was in danger & then flew home to a heros welcome ?

As for the economy - legalise marijuana & get the brits over spending sterling. Simple.

Christ it's depressing how little imagination exists in these responses. I can actually predict what you're going to say next I think. Let's see...you've already trotted out the thoroughly hackneyed "Irish went to US,UK" line so I'm going to go with

Stormfront?
Daily Mail?
South Park reference?

You do yourself, your argument and the ideology you appear to represent a great disservice when you come out with this stuff.

The immigration and asylum-system is designed to enrich the elites: whether they be property-moguls (some of whom are politicians as shown in allegations of electoral-fraud when 'voters' turned out to be registered at their properties), the legal-profession e.g. free legal-aid, and to encourage the entry to Ireland of cheap labour to keep the Irish plebs in their place.

I'm sick of that trite argument. The Irish spoke the languages of those countries and there wasn't even a welfare-state in Britain or the US when most Irish moved there. Also, there are more people in London than there are in Ireland. The population of Nigeria is 20-30 times that of Ireland, and Irish weekly-social-welfare rates are the equivalent and more of middle-class salaries in Poland and the Baltic states. You Lefties are so full of PC-Bull. They say some people can afford to be Socialists...

Legalise Marijuana - not a highly original idea from you but I agree it would work, I said that before on here.

But I can understand why you would be sceptical.

Why would they leave before 16? Can you even claim dole before your 18?

And if they left education then they most likely could be deported.

Hell no, stay at school, go to uni and then when all avenues of education have been exploited marry a Irish gal get her preggy and tell the papers, "Wont they think of the Children?" Do a Pamela and go through countless levels of court cases etc whilst living it off the Irish people.

Hell they could even go to law school to learn how to use our own laws against us!

Rant over.

You haven't been around here very long have you? petunia

I love that old line "but but the Irish went to other countries". Do some P.ie searches and come back here and explain why that line is a total non sequitur you nitwit because I'm not going to educate you.

In fact there is absolutely nothing in your post that I haven't heard some liberal legohead apologist utter previously...apart from your compliments on my writing that is!

Ah but the two are relevant, other Irish people went to look for work in foreign shores and received the same attitude that immigrants get now. Ireland is the land of a thousand of welcomes, a cead mile failte. Are we going to let people live in slums? I agree charity begins at home, lets eradicate homelessness and deal with the inequalities in society but lets also deal with immigrants too who want a better life. Actually yeah I am a liberal, I dont have a problem with that and I worked with immigrants for a while which is why I heard the stories first hand. Unless of course Im comepletely wrong I mean are they all a bunch of liars?

To address Bobs point about scam baiting, how much did you lose ?

@Old Irish, is that what you are into? Each to their own I prefer men who are men myself......

Deputy Edo...Im not sure, CSO hadnt got figures when I checked
