Ah yes, here we go. Sunday Times are reporting that one of Enda's closest friends has managed to be appointed chair of the WDC. Remember when all the Blueshirts were up in arms over close friends of FF landing jobs? Well, the same Blueshirts will be on this thread making up excuses.

Chuckle.

You jest Sir, who would have thought that FF's rise would be because of FG cronyism. You couldn't make it up.

Probably on the basis, as Sean Lemass said, that if he is best qualified, party membership should not disbar him.
Not like Bertie who said you just give it to your friends.

Its a very nice quango, as it has the power to give grants and or loans to businesses. FG friendly businesses might be very happy with this.

By all accounts, the man is hardly unqualified, inasmuch as anybody is qualified for to head up a regional development body. And all other things being equal, why wouldn't the Taoiseach or the Minister for Environment want a political sympathist in the role? There really is a difference between giving a job to a qualified person who happens to be politically connected and giving it to a person whose only qualification (if that's what you can even call it) is their political connections.

Is that the logistical logarithmic progression system of qualification? It seems to have worked for Reilly, Gilmore and now Kenny. Have you checked out Councillor Mc Guinness and his previous reports in the Mayo local rags. I posted about Mr Mc Guinness in the past but got an infracture for doing so.

As did Reilly this week to the Hep C commission.
One wonders who will get the jobs on the new childrens board at the end of the month....Harry Crosbie (OBE...????...or some such) is up for eviction at the end of the month!!...imagine Norah (the meeja guru) will keep her spot though!! :(

just like the VEC's were stuffed to the gills with Labour yes men and so it goes that FG will stuff their lads onto whatever quango is being created during their term in power.

This was the same in the FF years.

And so it goes in the banana republic.

Paddy Mc Guinness was Mayo Council's FG chief whip. A report came out about a FG councillor, Mr Frank Durcan and his concern about some issues to do with planning applications whereupon Mc Guinness denied any wrongdoing. The Connaught Telegraph, 26 November 1997, carried the story. I'm sure if you google Councillor Mc Guinness, Castlebar there will be pages of the story.

"Kenny and Durcan trade blows over planning application" - The Mayo News 6 March 2012
Mr Frank Durcan is now an Independent councillor and earlier this year he stated that he had evidence of planning issues, like the planning given to Enda Kenny's brother-in-law Tim Hastings for a garage on the N5. FG councillor, Henry Kenny (Enda's brother) and councillor Durcan have had heated arguments at council meetings over the granting of planning permission to T Hastings just 5 months after the refusal of planning for the same building on the same plot of land was refused.

Xmas Cheer for Enda's in laws
This story gets more intriguing the more you look into it. NRA did not appeal to An bord Pleanala because of "Staff Issues" during the Christmas period resulting in the Enda Kenny's brother-in-law getting the go ahead to develope the property. Councillor Durcan does not want the "strange planning issues" to just go away and has been told to "shut up" by Henry Kenny at a recent Council meeting. The Mayo News has the story.

Seriously. Jesus, have you some sort of link to that at all.

Have you heard of the Sunday Times (Oirish edition) down in Lowryland? It's all in there!

Or, if your austerity budget can't stretch to €2.80 - then have a look at one of Frank Fitz's tweets from 13 hours ago.
