So, early this morning, a disgruntled London Remainer set up a petition on Change.org calling for the city to declare independence within the EU. Presumably, he did it merely to let off steam, but already over 53,000 signatures have been acquired. Of course, the notion of London as an EU member completely surrounded by non-EU territory is so bizarre as to be an instant non-runner, but on a serious note, the idea highlights the stark demographic divide even within England and that the "UK" may not last in its present guise for terribly long.

Berlin existed inside East Germany for 41 years.
