Podem (the Catalan branch of Podemos) is joining with Barcelona en Comú, Iniciativa per Catalunya Verds (ICV, Initiative for Catalonia Greens), Esquerra Unida i Alternativa (EUiA, United and Alternative Left) and the Equo environmentalist party to expand and transform the En Comú Podem 9Together We Can) electoral pact into a fully-fledged political party.

As part of the deal, all the parties will maintain their separate websites and
vote in internal party elections via those individual sites. Podem will retain its links tot he national Podemos structure.

Interestingly, the Spanish alphabet consists of 27 letters while the Catalan has 26. This may, perhaps, serve as the pretext for the inevitable split. :)

Where does the new entity stand on Independence for Catalonia?

Good question, and the short answer is that they would be broadly against it. Podem(os) support greater autonomy within a federal Spain, and Ada Colau (Mayor of Barcelona and leader of Barcelona en Comú, is a kind of third-way figure, supporting the right to hold a referendum, but opposing a 'leave' vote in that referendum.

And while they back a negotiated vote, does that extend to the unilateral referendum expected in September?

I doubt it. Colau, for example, is against unilateral action and favours a binding referendum.
