Germany should consider paying Poland as much as $1 trillion (€840bn) in World War II reparations, according to the Polish foreign minister.

The country’s right-wing government has dismissed a 1953 resolution by Poland’s former communist government which dropped any claim to reparations from Germany, and are instead claiming that Germany is “shirking” its moral responsibility.
The problem with that is that majority of Polish people (51%) do not support such claims enjoying fruits which the current Germany and EU offers while only 24% of people would support reparation claims risking the relationships which they currently have.

Should Germany pay? Do they even believe Germans may pay or is it just some kind of a smoke screen to awake nationalist moods before trying to pull Poland out of the EU?

Polish government wants repatriations for this:

Id dare say Germany is doing far much worse damage to Europe than any bombs during ww2 could ever do.

The best thing for Poland and the rest of Europe would be to expel Germany from the EU.

WW2 is long over isnt it about time they moved on, the Germans have been guilt tripped more than enough already, how long more are they expected to apologise for.

Outstanding OP a chara.

But if this claim is successful do you think that would be the end of it.

What about the many decades of Soviet occupation?

And there are fairly reliable stories that at Yalta America and Britain agreed to Poland becoming a Soviet satellite in exchange for the USSR not so encroaching on Turkey.

France should pay Germany reparations for fighting the Russians and halting Stalin from marching all over the continent.

Katyn, 50 years of Communist misery post war etc etc
Katyn was nothing comparing to Polish Operation of the NKVD.
"The Polish Operation was the largest ethnic shooting and deportation action during the Great Terror campaign of political murders in the Soviet Union, orchestrated by Nikolai Yezhov."

One order and 200,000 Polish lost lives.

"keep on digging out and cleaning out this Polish filth."

For what? If anything Russia should be asking reparations from them.
Why it wasnt the Poles who subjected the Russians to decades of harsh communist rule, so i fail to see how you it should be the Poles who should be the ones to pay reparations and not the other way round.
