Or that fellow who was briefly Minister for Health and seriously proposed a system whereby a star chamber of the friends of the local nun-owned hospital should be the ones to interrogate a pregnant woman as to her intentions.

Try matching that up against someone putting forward a local lad with no fixed ideas to a citizen's convention.

With no pre-arranged voting involved.

So what? As long as they weren't stacking the convention with particular types it doesn't matter.

Fifty years ago that convention would have had about 60 nuns and priests in civvies in it and the rest made up of O'Rourkes.

No matter how iffy any selection process is these days it is automatically an improvement on the little banana republic stuff of fifty years ago.

If it is procedural issues you are worried about try the electoral roll, described in the Seanad 13 years ago as incorrect by up to 40% of the entries in it.

Which means elections, local and general, for the last 20 to 30 years will be dubious to say the least and will have had the usual cadre of double-voting peasantry in FF getting way more votes than they should have been able to gather.
enough whataboutery, read the article why did the mom of a friend email that particular guy? Chris Statement from the Citizens’ Assembly - The Citizens' Assembly

What's the point of your complaint? Are you suggesting that we should reverse all recommendations of the Convention?

That would be a bit foolish as conventions don't make laws, only recommendations from debate, which anyone can follow.

So what's the point? Are you saying the Convention was somehow rigged?

Goes back to my earlier point about the levels of corruption and 'arrangement' around Irish public life right up to recent times.

If you are unhappy about the convention, any member of which was able to make up their own mind on any subject being debated.

that's a hell of an improvement on some becapped pr1ck appointing his missus as an Oireachtas or constituency assistant, for example.
