It varies from state to state but you can fire people for no reason. You can’t fire them for the wrong reason. Here the evidence would be what the idiot firm themselves wrote.Is there such a thing as wrongful dismissal in America. My husband signed contracts for hiring Americans and there was a clause in them that they could be fired at will.
So you’ve got a bad decision to fire them in the first place, compounded by admitting to the reasons behind your dumb decision. Give them a years salary, sign confidentiality waivers. Stop talking about it. Problem goes away.
