Hardly one of the bigger issues affecting the country and an opportunity for the usual Joe Duffy like suspects to jump on a passing bandwagon full of "concerned mothers".

What's wrong with teenage alcohol. I mean a bottle of Glenfidic, 8 years old, is a treasure, so anything older must be better.

They spent at least 5 mins banging on about it on Morning Ireland this morning. Shock horror teenagers find a new way to get their hands on drink.
As someone already said everybody who "kept their pledge" put your hands up.

I am surprised to learn that delivering is illegal. Tesco have broken the law lots of times with me then!

It's the annual "Drink-Is-Bad" fest.
The Off Licenses and Supermarkets are catering for a demand for home delivery as it is too expensive to drink in VFI members premises. It's a recession thing.
The guy delivering is just doing solely his job - he would probably lose it if he kept coming back with the sales all the time.

Aye a load of sh!*. Ridiculous aswell, some people can't make their minds up about what they done with alcohol laws.
They were saying a while back that the off licenses were losing major money and it's very worrying. Well Mr.Government, some people work past 10 o clock and sometimes get a craving for beer past ten o clock so your own fault.

But this topic will never die "Oh whatever will we do to stop them from drinking!?" Etc....

BTW was there any photos of drunk teenagers on the front of the herald this mirning?

SPOT ON!! Notice most of the moralising eminates from rural TDs who firmly believe the Pub is the centre of the community.

The process of an everything except the Pubs prohibition has been ongoing for ages. For example, Aherns curtailing of hours for serving Alcohol, whilst it was nominally aimed at stopping Alcoholism and also targeted Pubs....disproportionately effected retail outlets with its rediculous 10-10 regulation (12.30 on sundays so as not to offend the Churchgoers!).

Oh yipee!
The government can step in and do something "decisive".
About something that is in the main pretty inconsequential.

Honestly, between the reduction of hours, banning of any sort of Tobacco based display and the Headshop ban this country is sliding into the grip of a sort of left wing PC meets right wing puritan....nightmare!

I suppose I would be wasting my time pointing out that all of the above measures have cost jobs and tax revenue!

FFS, when we were 14 my friends older brother would buy the flagans of cider (out of our money) and then we'd go off and drink it in a field.

No story here.

Either the education system in this country, which is costing TOO much in teachers' salaries, is completely gone to pot or else a fair sprinkling of the posters here are pie-eyed. The spelling is appalling.

Listen up, idiots. Lesson 1:

The pints that belong to them: THEIR pints.
They are drinking: THEY'RE drinking.
The pint is not here: it's over THERE.

Now study this and practice in your sleep or during tomorrow's hangover. Questions for each of you tomorrow evening.
