Pro-choice activists got tip-off on tragic death - National News - Independent.ie

Think of the mindset behind the article.

Pro-choice campaigners knew of Savita's death BEFORE the media broke the story.

Somehow that is sinister to Reilly and the anti-choice people. Why? Did they expect Savita's friends and relations to be good little Irish boys and girls and let the whole thing be covered up? Did they expect them to inform anti-choice activists at the same time, because some bizarre principle of fair play demanded that they do? These people truly are in a parallel reason-free universe.

Tucked away at the end of the article is the obvious explanation of the 'mystery' of the 'leak' :

"the ICN said: "Members of the Indian community got in touch with pro-choice groups following Savita's death."'

Why was the article written or published at all, when there clearly was no mystery to solve.

The media presumably offended because they weren't told first.

Disturbing twist in Savita tragedy. Pro Choice Network given details of Savita case before story broke. Why?

There is a story on Independent.ie today which gives another disturbing twist to Savitas tragedy. It seems that Irish Choice Network (a group that links all pro choice lobbyists together) had prior knowledge of the story and called an emergancy meeting the evening before Savitas story broke to plan how to pursue their push for abortion using this tragedy.
I ask why and how were they given this information beforehand and for what reason exactly? Two of the emails which were seen included staff of Leinster House, one being an employee of Mick Wallace (pro abortion lobbyist) and another an employee of Padraig o'Lochlann Sinn Fein (pro abortion party).
You cannot separate the significance of these people being involved in this group emails, they are active pro choicers and deliberately have manipulated the scant facts of this case before any enquiry has been completed.

How come this is only being revealed on one national newspaper? It is mentioned in the article that there is a query on wether the Irish Times or HSE revealed Savitas confidential medical history, when confronted the group then mentioned that the Indian community had contacted them with the details. Considering that Savitas husband is now in India I fail to see how someone would approach a hardly known pro choice group with intimate and harrowing details of Savitas tragedy.

Just a footnote, certainly one of the names in the article I would recognise as a regular hate filled contributer on forums , facebook and media comment boards, is this done on taxpayers funded time within Leinster house to support the ideology of Mick Wallace et al.

Lastly , I have every sympathy for the family of Savita and cannot for the life of me understand the Doctors call in this situation given that she could have had the pregnancy terminated but will not speculate further until the report come in but

The pro choice lobby are a disgusting vile bunch with no morals or sense of right and wrong. It is beyond contempt the tactics they will stoop to further their lust for the killing of innocencts. Whats more every single one of them know full well that had X case legislation been in place Savita would still have died. But do not let truth stand in the way of getting what you want.

Exactly - an example of the agenda-driven sheer bull headed stupidity has just manifested itself in another thread on this same thing.

Oh the irony.

I don't think the report was stupid (unusual for independent.ie): it reveals that the ICN wanted to have a good story to proceed with their campaign - and they got it.

Savita's and her baby's tragic deaths were a PR coup for pro-choice people, though they may have jumped the gun because the two investigations are not final yet.

Not a bit disturbing - you say you will not speculate and you do and you finish with a diatribe and now you know exactly what happened - move on - it's over - the Irish people have long decided on this issue and now we must have legislation.

Sounds to me like they were the ones who got the information and actually publicised it. People forget that Savita died in October.

The emails have been seen by the journalist and some in the Life Institute and they have been verified, the two named participants have not denied their involvement or the contents of the emails. What we can take as fact is that they did know about the story going public and they also called an emergancy meeting....could we see the minutes of that meeting!!
Where the tip off came from is not known for sure

What's " disturbing " about some people getting news before others ?
The rant in the last paragraph of the opener is pure lunacy.

However, later in an email response to the Sunday Independent, the ICN said: "Members of the Indian community got in touch with pro-choice groups following Savita's death."
Second last line of your article.

It is disturbing that a womans death has been used and trashed around the media and seen as an oppurtunity by pro choice.

To the people here from both sides of this debate:

You do realise this isn't some game to be played so as each side can score points ? Tell me you realise that much.
