Russia's Putin unveils 'invincible' nuclear weapons - BBC News

Russia has developed a new array of nuclear weapons that are invincible, according to President Vladimir Putin.

Mr Putin made the claims as he laid out his key policies for a fourth presidential term, ahead of an election he is expected to win in 17 days' time. The weapons he boasted of included a cruise missile that he said could "reach anywhere in the world".

He said of the West: "They need to take account of a new reality and understand ... [this]... is not a bluff."

Giving his annual state of the nation speech, Mr Putin used video presentations to showcase the development of two new nuclear delivery systems that he said could evade detection.

One included a "low-flying, difficult-to-spot cruise missile... with a practically unlimited range and an unpredictable flight path, which can bypass lines of interception and is invincible in the face of all existing and future systems of both missile defence and air defence".

Another weapon he discussed was a submarine-launched, long-range missile capable of delivering a nuclear warhead.

One such image envisages striking Florida.

This briefing coincides with reports of Russian Infantry officially arriving in Damascus to fight alongside the SAA to purge Ghouta of Al Qaeda terrorists.

These are dangerous times. Will NATO accept no longer being top dog in this game of bluff or chicken, or whatever game you want to call it.

Note the following Threat/Warning of imminent Nuclear War with North Korea

https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/922390/North-Korea-news-update-latest-Donald-Trump-Kim-Jong-Un-World-War-3-nuclear-bomb

AMERICAN Lawyer Jim Rickards warned Donald Trump will strike an attack to North Korea by the end of March 2018 to prevent "existential threats" from Kim Jong-un.
He said: "I give a 70 per cent probability to a US attack, what we’d call a preventive war that we started but we’re doing it to prevent existential threats to us, to the United States, before the end of March 2018.

1 objectives to this announcement - for domestic consumption ( god knows why - its not like anybody else has permission to even come second)........obviously there must be a lack of enthusiasm amongst the population for the dear leader.....

its all fabricated bollix anyway - nothing more than rusty water filled holes in the ground.............like last time.

Putin is indeed Stalin lite, and his Russia is the USSR lite.

The USSR destroyed itself in an arms race with richer and more populous powers. It beggared itself in a space race and a weapons race, while denying basic comforts to its population in its (badly) planned economy.

Now the Putin kleptocracy is repeating the mistake, at a time when the Russian economy is languishing, and when its major export (indeed, its only export) fossil fuels, are cheaper because of fracking, and ultimately valueless because of renewable energy coming on stream.

The corruption of the Soviet regime destroyed the people's faith in the system, and ultimately Putin's oligarchic regime will suffer the same fate. Posturing like a super-power is not doing the Russian people any favours.

"Putin announces Russia's invincible defense capabilities"

None of that sounds very defensive to me.

What he described were attack options.

As for being "invincible", what does that mean? The US (or anyone else) may not currently be able to stop such weapons, but the US (and some others) would be able to hit back, as even these new Russian weapons can't possibly eliminate all US nuclear assets, even using a heavy first strike.

He's also talking rubbish if he believes that these weapons are going to be invincible "in the face of all ...future systems of both missile defence and air defence". How does he know what the future holds?

Indeed. This will make Moron in Chief something to think about when if he plans to distract the voters by atracking Russia.
He's not going to attack his puppermaster now is he?

Perfectly understandable given the US announcement of new 'usable' nukes and the UK's renewal of trident.
Certainly so in that regard.
But the announcement points to enhanced capabilities which, to the best of my knowledge, have never been made before.

It sounds like this is purely for domestic consumption.

If Russia has actually developed these weapons then why is Putin announcing that Russia has them?

It's a stupid strategic move if they do have such weapons. If you had such weapons you wouldn't want your "enemies" to know about it.

This must be the Russian equivalent of Trump wanting to have a big military parade in the US. The only purpose can be to shore up Putin's core support by giving them something that they want to hear/see.

Yes saw those Russian combat troops on the TV the other night

I presume their Special Forces

The fact they were allowed to be filmed means Putin is sending a message to NATO that there is no settlement in Syria

- without his Imprimatur ....

It is a very interesting announcement by Vladimir Putin.
It is one thing to say, it is another thing to generate images of Nuclear Warheads striking the USA to the whole World.
It really puts it up to the USA to retaliate.

Mike Milley demonstrates what a clown in Military garb might look like. Not only will we kill you we will cut off your head and sh1t down your neck. Yeaaah. U.S.A. U.S.A

How embarrassing can life in the military get.

He's not exactly stupid now is he?

Obviously the CIA pretty well know all this anyway

- be sure the US has something similar in its arsenal
