Just wondering, why don't the right wing in Ireland protest? We see on here daily, that the dole, the public sector, women, Muslims, immigrants, gays and more are the cause of all of Irish society's problems. The people on here who incessantly attack these people or groups say they are a synecdoche of Irish people, not just some minority.

If that is the case, why are there no right wing protests? Why don't we see calls for the dole to be cut, slashed, so-called 'scum' being 'forced to fend for themselves', i.e die of starvation as I saw one poster fantasize about on here? Why no anti-libtard protests? Anti-gaystapo agenda? Anti-feminist protests, who destroy the very fabric of society? Anti-Zionist Occupied Government protests?

Now, I know there are two excuses the right wing posters will say to expiate for their lack of protesting: they have to work or the left will batter them off the streets.

Firstly, protests can and have been organized on weekends and late at night in Dublin city centre, such as around 7 PM on weekdays. Most of the right wing posters on here stay up until all hours or post all day on the weekend - even weekdays, before 5 PM - so there are ways of getting around so-called 'work' and that petty excuse.

Secondly, if the majority is with you, then you won't have to worry about the left wing. Also, if you're against the state and want it removed as much as possible, why would you be afarid of the unwashed as if there was no state, you'd have to fend them off regardless? Many want to get rid of the communist guards - maybe not a bad idea - so you'd be fighting alone for your 'property' from the left in your libertarian dystopia anyway.

So, right wingers, why don't you organize anti-drug addict, anti-tax, anti-dole, anti-homeless crusties on the housing list wanting everything for nothing, anti-everything protests? Why is it you essentially do nothing? All the talk of fighting the left, the unemployed and more seems to be hot air because the right wing never really seem to do anything in this country. We can't even say Fine Gael are right wing, because some of the more fanatical right wing posters on here think they are socialists.

Would love to know. petunia

It's easier to lobby than protest once you can get in the door.

Number of reasons

they have many lobby groups to influence decision makers, they can frame government policy

the media is generally right wing and promotes right wing commentary. They also demonise and castigate unions or any organsiation that defends working class/poor

and most importantly they don't have to bother as they are doing fine

Government spending does not equal Socialism. Socialism is about who owns the means of production and distribution. What have Fine Gael nationalized?
They may not have nationalised anything but they support big government spending in terms of social welfare and caving into public sector unions, those are classic socialist policies.

Bismark believed in big government spending in terms of social welfare; was he a classic Socialist?

That's it. On economic issues the right and the corporate interests effectively achieve their aims through lobbying.

A potentially interesting thread. The division between right wing and left wing is wrong of course as Sinn Fein and others are just establishment lackeys magpies who hijack protests like the AAA''s water protest. Gerry Adams, its leader, is a pal of the Israeli ambassador and Peter King and other right wing death squad advocates. He also put an end to most radical street protests in Ireland.
Big protests cost money, either union support, Trotskyist direct debits or robbing banks as OIRA and PIRA (used to) do. They also need groups to build around. In that respect, Mr Aphorism's comments that "the right" should protest resemble those of fellow right winger Mary Harney who advised her critics to run for election. Both are easier to do if you have a political party and the press behind you.

Youth Defence have had big marches but they tend to get attacked by the usual club of modern age Nazis.
