Violence returned to the streets of Londonderry yesterday during an illegal Republican Easter Rising 1916 commemoration parade.

Rampaging youths ( some as young as 12) threw petrol bombs, bricks, bottles and masonry at PSNI vehicles...

The trouble erupted in the Creggan as a police officer read out a warning over a loudspeaker that the event was unlawful.

Police pulled back after a barrage of missiles rained down on them, clearing a path for a group of masked men dressed in paramilitary-style garb to march in formation down the street towards the City Cemetery.

The worst of the violence occurred near the gates of the cemetery where a gang of youths again attacked police vehicles with masonry, petrol bombs and their fists and feet, allowing the dissident colour party to enter the cemetery unchallenged.

Petrol bombs thrown at PSNI vehicles during an illegal dissident republican parade in Londonderry were “attempts to maim or kill” officers, the NI Police Federation has said.

Stones and various other missiles were also directed at police as around 200 people attended the 1916 Easter Rising commemoration in the Creggan estate yesterday afternoon

Ch Insp Ivor Morton said the police had tried to engage with the organisers over a period of time to "facilitate their event within the law," but they declined to enter any discussions.

Yet again the lack of leadership and engagement by the RM has given rise to a sense of empowerment to the disengaged feral Republican youth...

The lack of respect for people's rights has demonstrated that the DUP can't treat nationalists/republicans with equality in their own land. That's a glaring example of a lack of leadership and honesty at the heart the current leadership of unionism.
The wrong side of history...

Shows Varadkar and the Eu are correct.

More anti-GFA from the Brits, more of this.

Perfect timing for the parade, reminds the British they can't go ahead with a Border or all those young folk will take over.

Perfect timing for Varadkar and Tusk.

So the poster suggests all those who broke the law should face court and you think it isn't a comment on the OP?

I happen to agree with him and think it is a mighty comment on the incident on which the OP is based.

It would appear Droichead doesn't want all those who broke the law in this incident to face the courts...

Everybody has a right to hold a parade in their own community to commemorate whatever the feck they want.
Everyone is required to both notify and abide by P.C regulations...

It was a comment ending with a question for you.

You're welcome.

Everyone is required to both notify and abide by P.C regulations...

Why are you not in favour of everyone that has broken the law facing the courts....
