The High Court ruled against the defendant in the Romeo and Juliet case, in which the defendant and alleged victim had underage sex. When will the Supreme Court hear the appeal? If that is unsuccessful, the boy may appeal to the European Court of Human Rights. Furthermore, is there a likelihood that budgetary constraints will lead the DPP to decide that it is "not in the public interest" to pursue this case?

The Romeo and Juliet case

The High Court ruled against the boy who was charged with unlawful sex of a girl. Both were underage at the time. When will the Supreme Court get around to hearing the appeal?
Challenge to underage sex law fails - The Irish Times - Fri, Mar 26, 2010
Is there a likelihood that financial constraints and the fact that the girl, who has since become an adult, may wish to have the case dropped, mean that the DPP will decide that it is not in the public interest to pursue the case?

Can anyone provide links to such threads on politics.ie? There seems to be a distinct lack of further developments on this case since the High Court ruled against the accused.
