Today, RTE gave main headline coverage to a complete non story which makes Joan Burton look good. This is another example of a non-story which has given very positive coverage for Labour Ministers. Today's 'news' gives the impression that Joan Burton is implementing a new pension regime, on looking more closely one discovers that she is doing nothing of the sort. What she really announced is that at some time in the future it might be a good idea to do something with pensions, and this something might be done by the National Treasury Management Agency. RTE news editors should be ashamed of themselves, and if they think that they can continue pulling the wool over peoples eyes in this way, they may be mistaken.

Rte are now so bad on news items, that a lot of people do not believe them anymore. Especially any thing to do with the Goverment. Their bias is there for all to see......

The organisation needs to be shut down asap. It serves no public service mandate anymore and is nothing but a mouthpiece for the government. People who laugh at the North Koreans national braodcaster need to look a little closer to home tbh.

That thread does highlight some of the problems with Burton's 'idea' but this thread is asking why RTE would choose to give headline prominence to her idea without pointing out that she has not developed the idea in any way, has not identified how government would part fund, has not pointed out that many people simply cannot afford any such deductions from their pay, and finally why would RTE not mention that Burton does not have responsibility for NTMA and the fact that she seems to think she is in a different department.

According to RTE Joan will give more details in the new year, and she will implement the plan when the economy shows sign of recovery............Does Labour actually edit the news on Sundays for RTE?

Can Pravda make Moan look good ?

Mind you it is obvious that Pravda are much more positive about Moan, than Vinny on TV3.

The only reason that people have not copped onto the RTE Labour mafia is that if Gilmore had any ideas they would broadcast them, He doesn't have a clue so there is nothing from the Labour leader. (His well paid handlers/mates/spinners know this )

It pained me to listen to Frontline pres on Finucane yesterday (I was not at home)
I can't believe it's not butter ? I can't believe he is not gay ? Truly great impersonation of a lisping gay man in denial. He actually has a talent (apart from congratulating himself for achieving nothing and having lots of knowledge that is useless in the real world)

Seriously, the only thing Gilmore and Labour have highlighted is,,

Anti Christian (not Islam, cos Labour are basically cowards) Mr Gilmore closing the vatican embassy,
Pro Abortion - stand forth Ciara Conway, Gilmore, Frontline Pres
Gay Marriage - Gilmore again ,

They have magically forgotten their stance on Banking & immigration (they voted against the Citizenship Referendum in 2004 - this alone marks them out as 100% loons)

If you feel that strongly about it then contact the Broadcasting Complaints Commission.

What is the point, even if they said it was a valid complaint, nothing would change. BCC do not take any sanctions.

Are you implying that RTÉ is not legally obliged to adhere to the findings of the BCC?

Really? Just listened back over it. First sentence of the section on pensions ended "today came signs that an overhaul could be on the way." Conditionality and uncertainty apparent from the get go. Mother of god this is a pointless, irrational thread.

Finishes by saying "It will be a matter of years and not months however before the scheme comes to fruition."

Rubbish RTE is in the tank for SF/IRA the lack of discussion on SF/IRA bare face policy differences on either side of the border is evidence of this.

Ah look on the bright side, if you didn't see Labour TDs on the RTE news, sure when would you ever see them? :)
