Welcome to Irish politics: careerism, dynasties and greed.
Good point from Daly on how they've had 4.5 years to fix housing. But she failed to say what would replace IW.
McLochlainn's idea of a public water utility sounds like Irish Water under another name.
The reality is that IW is here to stay under whatever name. FF's proposal to return to 32 squabbling local authorities rowing over contracts, jurisdiction etc typifies their reputation for inefficiency rightly earned by their persistent failure to control govt spending when in office.
However the bonus culture in IW must be addressed, as must the sweetheart deals with friends of FG and the socially regressive payment model which fails to differentiate based on income. The absence of metering is unsustainable from the perspective of encouraging water conservation. A Water Conservation Grant not linked to water conservation is nonsense - it should be converted to a grant to help the poor pay their water charges.
