Sauce for the gander: this pro-choice lawmaker proposes fines on male masturbation.

O

Oscurito

Jessica Farrar is a United States politician and a Democratic member of the Texas House of Representatives. As a pro-choice woman, she's very much out of the comfort zone in the Lone Star State. It's not that Texas's laws are as strict as ours but the political culture is far more hostile towards anyone who is pro-choice.

The 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling legalized abortion at the national level, However, Texas has some of the most restrictive abortion laws in the country, Under the so-called "Woman's Right to Know" legislation, a woman seeking a termination must make four visits to a doctor and obtain a mandatory ultrasound image. Also, the state has been closing down termination clinics around Texas making it harder and harder for such services to be accessible.

Farrar has proposed a "Man's Right To Know Act" which - amongst other things - would fine men $100 if it was found that they had masturbated, unless they had done it in an approved session at a hospital or clinic. Otherwise, it would be categorized as an "act against an unborn child, and failing to preserve the sanctity of life".

Under her proposed law, there would also be a mandatory waiting period before a vasectomy procedure or receiving a prescription for Viagra. Her proposed law would also force the state to create pamphlets — mimicking those given to women seeking an abortion — filled with information about vasectomies, Viagra etc. and would permit doctors to invoke their religious beliefs in refusing to provide certain reproductive-related procedures for men.

She admits that her motivation is to highlight the "unnecessary" and "invasive" treatment that she says Texas women must endure. Her proposals have received an overwhelmingly hostile response from her overwhelmingly male colleagues.

About as rational as one would expect from a female, pro-choice, Democrat i.e. mentally unbalanced and mostly likely a beneficiary of some form of tokenism or special treatment.

So that's their version of O Riordan ? a fooked up liberal nutbag that just could not be made up in a fictional book. Throw her in a room with abortion survivors and turn off the lights.

Very funny in fairness- masturbation presented as 'an act against the unborn child and failing to preserve the sanctity of life'.

Pretty good going how she has tied in the proposal to publicise Texas' four doctors and obligatory scan regulations.

Last sting of a dying wasp seeing as the abortifacient pill is probably about to make abortion clinics a thing of the past in any case. But Farrar has managed to highlight the absurdity of Texas law with her proposal and done so in an amusing way so fair play to her.

Texas is one of those places I'd like to see briefly in the United States but isn't really worth the effort to go there. I'm sure the people are as warm as hospitable as they usually are in the US but I'd rather not risk encountering the redneck element.

Each w@nk kills about 100 million unborn babies.

"the average male will produce roughly 525 billion sperm cells over a lifetime and shed at least one billion of them per month. A healthy adult male can release between 40 million and 1.2 billion sperm cells in a single ejaculation".

There simply are not enough women alive to deal with the sperm production of just a single solitary male.

You would fine people for having ideas?

I would have thought it was clear what this woman is doing. She is simply showing men what it is like to have laws & members of the opposite sex legally restricting their personal control of their own bodies.

Judging by the quality of debate on this thread she's doing a neat job of highlighting a glaring hypocrisy.

Nah, that's not true unless you're suggesting abortion is a contraception which I don't believe you are.

A sperm isn't a human being. Contraception isn't being restricted (nor should it). Ignoring that abortion is the ending of a human life (irrespective of whether you believe it's justified through choice) weakens your and her position.

What with football players in their 20's releasing autobiographies for the christmas market and to cash in on fans' gullibility I suppose it won't be long before foetuses will be issuing autobiographies through their agents.

Not understanding the difference between "life" and "a human life" seems to be something all pro abortion people suffer from.
Still pretty stupid though.
