The Saudis have come under huge scrutiny since they were elected to the UN women's rights commission. This is nothing more than a PR exercise. It's one thing to declare that women will be allowed by law to drive, but then there's Sharia law and whether a woman will be allowed to drive or not will depend on what her father/husband/brother or son allow her to do.
The UN is a joke, beyond parody.

The KSA saying that women have rights, when a man decides that this is the case (and that carries the implication, that a woman does not have a right, if there is no man to enright her), is an indication of how they understand neither women, nor rights.

But never mind all that misogyny. They feel special because they are closer to a backward code from 14 centuries ago, than anybody else.

Saudi govt orders Canadian ambassador to leave and announces freeze on investments and freeze on new trade in Canada following arrest of activists seeking an end to the kingdom's male-guardianship system.

A sign that Prince Mohammad Bin Salman (known as MBS) is either facing pushback from the conservative Establishment, or isn't as liberal as people think.

The response is to support Canada.

The reaction of the regime in Riyadh, is to continue the systematic control of females by males.

The male-guardianship mechanism is mysognistic. It is time to throw it out.

I don't know much about Saudi but I visit Oman for business reasons off and on flying out through Turkey.

The Sultan's representative calls to every district to chat with the ordinary folk. They were doing feedback centuries before we were.

Sad that women could be treated like garbage but it never became an issue.

All the piety, all the fierce rhetoric about equality was all dropped because Saudi Arabia didn't fit the template for opposition.

Sickening disgrace and the progressive movement left itself down badly by being so silent.

It's just women can't be the attitude.
What does this sentence mean? It's just women can't be the attitude
