What does a "levy" on existing public sector pensions mean?

Nothing on Income Tax?

When are the private sector going to start doing their bit???

Seeing as the HSE plan to dump staff did not work, where are they going to find these 20,000?

Sure who would want to leave when they can sit in an office playing solitaire all day and get paid for it and then retire with a nice pension?

They dont get away with hitting the minimum wage with some serious cuts to pay for the fat cats at the top, be they ministers, TD's or civil servants.

I am pretty sure that this list does not produce a €6bn adjustment...

More VAT increases? Do they want people to spend money at all?

The levy will mean they suffer the same percentage cut serving public sector staff got. This must only be a little part of the 4 year plan. Nothing on childrens allowance or reducing tax credits:confused:

It says its towards the end of the 4 year plan, i.e. the usual FF strategy of delay and pray.

why am i not suprised - a completely regressive list of measures designed to hit the poor and no one else. What the hell is a 100 euro 'household charge'? Sounds like a poll tax - bring on the riots! we cannot accept this.

we all need to stay here and fight this. There are other ways of balancing the books and they cannot force this on us unless we accept this as passively as we have done everything else to date. We need an all out general strike and mass demonstrations outside the Dail everyday until they back down like they did in Iceland and look how much better off people in Iceland are now than us because they had some balls and said enough was enough.

There is no 4 year plan imo.It is yet another semantical fiction.
At this stage the memorandum of understanding attached to the IMF financed part of the looming loan is probably signed and sealed.Their money, their plan.
All that remains is a choreographed announcement. To the markets.
