the rules for Seanad candidates are so lax theres no spending limit, and only have to submit 'large' donations.

122 unsuccessful candidates

24 candidates referred to the DPP Disclosure of Donations by unsuccessful candidates - Standards in Public Office Commission

16 seem to have submitted no statement and 10 incomplete documentation

Guidelines for the Seanad General Election 2016 - Standards in Public Office Commission

Seven candidates disclosed donations totalling €8,458.58
http://www.sipo.gov.ie/en/Reports/Election-Reports/Seanad-General-Election-25-26-April-2016/Donations-disclosed-by-unsuccessful-candidates-.pdf

reams of donations statements that are almost all blank
Appendix 2 Unsuccessful Candidates Donation Statements - Standards in Public Office Commission

why isn't it required of Seanad candidates to submit for publication the total amount of donations they got

its seems they are advised to keep records of doantions mainly to avoid foreign people donating and to avoid 1 person donating over the limit through separate donations Keeping a record of donations received in relation to the election - Standards in Public Office Commission

how is it that they are not required to declare election expenses!
