Sectarianism....What exactly do we mean by it?

The term sectarian gets thrown around a lot here.

Personally I find surreal that some things which to me arent sectarian at all get labeled sectarian.

I think it would be a very good idea if we could define exactly what we mean by the term.

It means protestant behaviour obviously.
Does it?

I doubt anyone believes that Vicar Fluffycoats and his wishy washy sermons would be guilty of sectarian behaviour.

Someone here was accused of sectarian abuse for pointing out the satanic symbolism on the old "Northern Ireland" flag...How was that sectarian?

If someone thinks the Star of David is satanic then of course they are sectarian. They are displaying hatred towards a religious symbol/entire religion.

Its not the Star of David....Its the star of Saturn/Baal.

I had a great book on the subject written by an Australian Evangelical.

It slipped into Jewish use through the Kabblahists.

Lets not derail this thread with a discussion of the Star of Baal.

The Star of David is the recognised Jewish symbol, that is what is on the Ulster Banner. The Star of Saturn is a satanic symbol but that is not what is used.

The symbols are similar but mean different things, just like the swastika in its orignial Slavic form which was a lucky charm, and then when it was used by Hitler as a symbol of National Socialism in Germany.

The so called Star of David though is no such thing.

Archeology has shown that it was associated with the whorship of Baal...Its a symbol of Baal and nothing to do with pre-Incarnation Israel. Luigia was bang on the money about what she was saying about it.

And Hitler used a Tibetian form of the swastika which goes the other way around to the Slavic symbol....Tibet being a focus of Tantric black magic until its liberation by the PLA.

BUT please can we discuss how should we define sectarianism?

Sectarianism means the division and hatred within a community for some non-inherent, arbitrary and pointless reason. An invented distinction, like what form of Christianity you follow or how you say your h's.

Basically, "Sectarian" means you're hating, fighting and killing someone who is almost exactly the same as you but you disagree over something particularly stupid and pointless.

Big thanks to Sevenspas for name checking me so manytimes! Oh break open the bubbly!

Wikipedia has a very good definition

Sectarianism, according to one definition, is bigotry, discrimination or hatred arising from attaching importance to perceived differences between subdivisions within a group, such as between different denominations of a religion or factions of a political movement.
So essentially portraying a group in a different light in a bigoted manner (such as the OO being Freemasons nonsense) could potentially fulfill that definition

The dictionary defines sectarianism differently that some people on here:

sec·tar·i·an
   /sɛkˈtɛəriən/
–adjective
1.
of or pertaining to sectaries or sects.
2.
narrowly confined or devoted to a particular sect.
3.
narrowly confined or limited in interest, purpose, scope, etc.

The Slavic swastika does go the same way as the one used by Hitler and the Tibetans. There are variations so it really can go either way.

You can't decide what exists and what doesn't.
