The popular Meath Senator who served as a T.D. from 2011- 2016 apparently took a severance payment from the Oireachtas following his defeat in the last General Election.
The payment worth of the order of €15,000 became repayable once Butler was appointed to the Senate as one of the Taoiseach's 11.

According to law a TD receiving the payment must give an undertaking that they do not propose to seek election as a Senator or give consent to be nominated as a Senator. According to the Journal.ie the repayment schedule stopped after Christmas.

A Fine Gael politician has not fully repaid the large allowance he was given after losing his Dáil seat

Surely the money should simply be deducted from the Senator's Salary or he could arrange a loan.

Ray had previously ben asked to repay €4923 in expenses which were over claimed. Politicians pay back

He was linked to an Invoice controversy in relation to expenses relating to a St Patricks Parade previously. Mystery of the TD, the festival, and unpaid bills to local bands - Independent.ie

Senator Butler is owner of several greyhounds. http://irishgreyhoundspotlight.blogspot.ie/2016/10/creed-and-his-greyhound.html http://www.igb.ie/Racing/greyhound-search/owners-page/?oid=39831

The use of the word "hounded" makes it look like you think its unfair treatment. From the evidence provided, there is nothing unfair about his treatment. Why has he not returned our money?

He is not hounded half enough. Hounded is a bit of a pun on the Greyhounds. He could sell a few greyhounds to repay the money.

he wouldnt get 500 euro for the lot of them and he only owns a half share in them so about 250 euro would be about his lot.

For 90 years these scumbags have written the rules - do you really think they'd be so foolish as to leave themselves exposed to "little people rules"?

They know well enough, but trying to spin it out for another few years like a game of pass the parcel...at some stage the music WILL stop and there will be consequences, but rest assured there will be sufficient time to write a few new rules around pension entitlements, etc., before the decks of ireland Inc. slip below the surface one lat time.
