According to The Irish News, an internal party review has decided to do away with the AIW nonsense and allow reps keep their salaries:

Sinn Féin review recommends ending wages cap - The Irish News

This is to be welcome as another step in the process of turning SF into a normal political party. It will also allow them to attract policy staff who understand non-conflict politics and basic maths.

That's a good one. Over the top pay for special "advisers" didn't serve FF/FG well or us for that matter.

AIW wage was a stupid idea especially for their female members who have costs men just don't have, ie childcare.

They'll miss it as a kind of imaginary stick to beat the other parties with. You lot are just greed feckers, we only take the AIW (well, we take the lot and divert most of it to virtuous causes, like support of the party).

About time they stopped the messing around their wages.
I wonder could they hire some blueshirts now to help with their basic maths?
Enda's ones are geniuses altogether.

How long before the mallet shill is posting his endless inanities on this one?

Certainly won't please all those in the lower ranks whose pay will now have to fall ....

And I thought this by Donnelly was interesting

Removing the restrictive wage structure should open up the possibility of attracting both representatives and advisory level staff with both the skills and expertise to lift the party's performance at Stormont
An admission that what they have is poor quality and that they cannot rely on altruism and love of Ireland to attract quality staff ....

Now that they've thrown away that fig leaf they'll have put themselves in the same bracket as the 2 1/2 parties and just in time to replace Labour... Birds of a feather...

A blind man on a galloping horse could tell you that. Not that the other parties are much better. And like all other parties, they have some very effective operators. But again, for every party, for each obama they have four or five trumps.
