SF - the Irish manifestation of Brexit/Trumpism?

The parallels are striking - after all, SF campaign on an anti-establishment basis among a working-class support base. Similarly, they play on nationalist rhetoric, and employ protectionist economic policies. Finally, though modifying their traditional anti-EU language, this is merely a cover for political isolationism. So, is SF the Irish embodiment of the Farage, Trump, Le Pen axis?

No, they're the Irish embodiment of the Syriza, Podemos, Bernie Sanders axis.

Next question.

They are in some ways similar, but have too much historical baggage.

To be a really Trumptastic/Brexciting populist political force you really need to have no track record , leaving you with a blank canvas to paint your populist, getting-rid-of-the-insiders vision. SF are Old Skool now - they are so 20th century.

The idea that SF could ever get around 48% of the vote like Trump did is beyond laughable.

No hope.

Yea!

That's why they sit with Podemos, Portuguese Communist Party and Syriza in the GUE/NGL in Europe.

Go back to sleep ffs!

Be grateful for the relative sanity of Irish politicians of all stripes.

Most Podemos, Portuguese Commies and Syriza voters are anti EU
Only 32% of Podemos members want to remain in the EU.

SF are virulently pro-EU and there has been zero internal debate on the issue.
Funded by the Coca Cola company and indirectly by the Tories and EU, they are about as anti-establishment as FG.

The Shinners have been bought and sold by Soros gold; they support the EU, they want criticism of the Transexual agenda made illegal, they support mass immigration, etc, etc. Ireland badly needs a Left Patriotic party like the Communist Party of the Russian Federation or Front National in France.

Does the Front National have socialist policies? I didn't know that. I always presumed they were just another right wing party.

They are not a Socialist Party- but than neither are the Shinners, however they are as Left wing economically as the Shinners, maybe more so, and they have Socialists within in the same way that they Shinners do (Alain Sorel used to be in their leadership for a couple of years).

FG/FF are the manifestation of Trumpism in Ireland. They appear to hate Irish people who aren't rich. And stupid people vote for them.

SF's position on the EU will be their undoing.

The shinners have no principles. Quiet like the Ukip and Trump.

Don't even think they are socialist.

They certainly tone down their socialism when they are rattling the old bucket when they go to the states.

Two christian conservative/centre right parties who have run the country in one guise or another since 1922 don't seem to satisfy the needs of a growing number on this site yet they let the PD's and Renua croak.....

Where now...?

They are the embodiment of BNP,FARC,Hamas,Hezbollah,Al Qaeda,Gaddaffi,Corbyn and other odious criminal cartels. They are allied with these evil creatures, armed and trained them or were armed by them and consistently find/found common cause with them.
