Sinn Fein Wicklow County Councillor John Brady is this evening participating in a sit in protest in Bray Town Council offices with two women who have presented themselves as homeless and who have been left in a wholly unacceptable situation by the local Council. Brady claims the situation is unacceptable and both Women are locals in the area who have been on the housing list for 7 and 9 years. Is this just blatant attention seeking opportunism by SF?

Its also interesting to note that SF support an open borders system which has meant that thousands of low skilled foreign nationals have come in and went straight on to housing lists around the country. Surely giving out that local Women are 7 and 9 years on the housing list is a bit hypocritical when SF support mass immigration and strain that puts on housing?

Its a valid point and has nothing to do with race, how can you complain that people are spending a long time on housing lists when the list is being extended by the influx of low skilled people which SF supports?

Is he really staging a sit in? Isn't he really just staying in the office late?

A person has to live in the state for a period of 10 years before they can apply for housing. Also immigration control similar to Australia where we try and attract skilled immigrants.

Acceptable.

Send them to mosney until we can deport them.

There are rich pickings for any party who are prepared to question Immigration

I just dont think the country can sustain the housing needs of non citizens.
Why not?

Most of our politicians seem to think we can sustain provision of housing for our unmarried mothers!

Can we not provide housing for tens of thousands of Immigrants too?

I have no issues with Irish citizens having housing married or unmarried, Immigrants should have to reside in Ireland and integrate into the community for a period of time before they are considered for housing.

Actually it is a valid point and well done the shinner for siding with the women and highlighting the ludicrous housing situation we have in this country. Impressive.

Agreed. Our model is a joke but i'm afraid it could already be too late to act. We are best case scenario 10-15 years behind the UK and things are out of control in that nation at this stage.

This has nothing to do with your odious obsession with immigrants, you imbecile. Bray has loads of vacant properties.

Fair play to John Brady for his selfless committment to the less well off. What a contrast to the FF, FG & LP snouts who were trousering thousands from equally greedy developers.

As for an election stunt: Brady was nearly elected in the GE & will have little problem in getting re-elected to the council.
