In his Euro Area Loan Facility (Amendment) Bill 2013 speech Shane Ross TD Dublin South demands a EU loan debt write-off and describes a possible rescheduling deal on the EFSF and EFSM loans as completely inadequate. He goes on to denounce the effort as a form of grave injustice that will burden future generations with even more debt, debt that was brought on by reckless behavior by people in Ireland in the last decade and today.

Shane Ross is known for his blunt language in the press and in the Dail but is this threat to default on the EU loans and fight only for the Irish national interest rather than a European wide solution really that smart at this point in time? I mean this from comes from a guy who recommended Sean FitzPatrick as Governor for the Irish Central Bank not too long ago...

Not smart at all but what do you expect. Ross is a spoofer of the highest order who uses his position on a Dail committee to provide him with material for his weekly column.

Ross is one of the few (very few) people that should be listened to in Leinster house.

Populist clap-trap.

I have lost any remaining respect for this spoofer.

He is very happy to suggest that someone else do exactly what he would not do himself, were he in their position.

Apparently Shane's British friends in The City (London) pulled his leg on Monday by describing him as a good obedient Irish man paying his bankers debt. Now this, what a predictable reaction from a guy without any remaining self-esteem. his friends in The City must be pleased.

Hmm, have you a timeframe for when this default will occur? Will it be.........in the next couple of days?

You should set up a thread about it. Or have ZH not given you the go ahead yet?
Have you ever found a country in the history of civilisation that has successfully serviced over 260% TOTAL debt of it's National Income without default or writedown, like I asked you over 6 months ago?

Because if you can't name one, well then please tell us how a country with over 600% total debt of national income can avoid default?

Not too long ago - 10 years?

4.5 years Before the government constructed house of cards fell down and we all saw the emporer not only had no clothes but had given ours all away?

How could he have been so blind?

Why anyone takes Ross seriously is beyond me - his previous glowing recommendations for the economic genius and business brilliance of Messrs McCreevy, FitzPatrick, Fingleton and Quinn should put anything he says today in the proper perspective.

Just like that other Dail spoofer Stephen Donnelly, Ross's own words will trip him up.

Donnelly was caught out spectacularly with his spoofing on Pat Kenny yesterday - and correctly called out on it on Twitter by those who could see he was spoofing.

When someone spouts the same line as the Right Honourable Member for County Louth, Mr Gerard Adams, you know which orifice they are talking out of. Have a read of some of these exchanges, folks. This is MasterCard stuff.

We'll agree to disagree on that one.
It would mention it here if he were
Shane Ross - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Shane Peter Nathaniel Ross (born 11 July 1949) is an independent Irish politician and former Business Editor of the Sunday Independent. He was the longest-serving member of Seanad Éireann (representing the University of Dublin constituency), until he was elected to Dáil Éireann for the constituency of Dublin South in the 2011 general election.[1]

Whatever about Ross, Paul Prenderville seemed to be saying much the same last night on VB.

According to PP, one part of yesterdays deal might save €50m a year, but the other part essentially confirmed Germany's reneging on the 'gamechanger' of last summer. The first part was spun as the main news and the geniuses of the media fell for it as always. The 2nd part was the real important news, which Noonan seemed to plainly admit (he said 'this is not a gamechanger' which is actually the smae as 'there was no game changer' ).

We'll get a retraction from Gilmore now. As a Mr. Bailey(?) famously said to a Mr. Gogarty 'Will we f--k!'.

Paul Prenderville is one of the few worth listening to.

Independent Politicians who have only point in time contextual references are less spooficious than Government or opposition party TDs who contribute to the obscurement of that reference.

I pointed out that twitter exchange in another thread yesterday. He simply ran away. You could taste the disdain that Guider and Callan (two respected market watchers) had for him.
