Should mothers be allowed to buy their disabled son sex?

 Great debate on at the moment on the Nolan Show about whether or not a mother should be allowed to buy her disabled son sex. It was on a TV show last night and has raised eyebrows and perhaps more over the media.

Here's the link :The sex workers giving disabled people a chance to live out their dreams | Tuppy Owens | Comment is free | guardian.co.uk

On the Nolan Show now is Norman from Bangor, he is a Christian and is abhorred with the parents who do such things for their sons, *cough* daughters. He believes we shouldn't have sex before marriage, a lot of us are living in sin. The documentary looked into the 85% of disabled people in the UK who enjoy a healthy active sex life. ‘Can have sex, will have sex’ spoke to man called Karl, who can no longer experience erections and Pete who wishes to be the UK first porn star with cerebral palsy.

It features the sex lives of four disabled people, one of whom loses his virginity to an escort who has been hired by his mother. Do the people against this not encourage the notion that disabled people are non-sexual. Here is the photo form the advertisement for the Channel 4 show.

Here's a taster of it if you wanna catch up if you missed it:

Leah, a 24-year-old woman with brittle bone disease won’t let her body’s limitations get in the way of an adventurous sex life. Twenty-six-year-old John has learning difficulties and his mother has taken the momentous decision to hire him an escort to help him lose his virginity.

Would you buy your son or daughter a ride/rub and tug if they wanted it but needed your help? Id be open to it, allowing them, that is.

They are human. Highly recommend The Sessions with Helen Hunt for an insight into this.

Cyp will be all over this one.

If all parties are consenting, then how bad.

I was going to add I'm not Cyp's sock at the end, but thought I'd be censored!

Also, apologies if 'disabled' isn't the correct term, I'm quite ignorant in relation to that. Genuinely.

I think some things are best left private...

Do we have to know everything about everyone these days?

Modern 'culture' really is becoming vacuous and tedious...

There's the question of what the law is: current Irish law doesn't allow 3rd parties faciliate sex for payment, so a mother could do it for free, but a care worker doing it could be in trouble

There's the question of what the law should be: of course consenting adults should be allowed to do what they wish

PC crash course:

People are not disabled - they are persons with a disability.
People are not "in wheelchairs" - they are wheelchair users.
People with Down's Syndrome or similar conditions are persons with an intellectual disability. (Sometimes confused with learning disability but not the same. Actually I'm not even sure if learning disability is used for anything any more.)

You can make the cheque out to Preacher PC Consulting Inc. please. :D

Why is the thread title so specific regarding the gender of the parent and the offspring?

Any parent wanting to do this for their child is performing their parental duties admirably.

Quite right, here's a disturbing clip from an American TV show To Catch a Predator. Grim.

Because women providing this 'service' would be regarded as compassionate angels whereas men would be regarded as perverts...

Plus can you really imagine any father paying some bloke to have sex with his daughter?

Same reason the Independent did it. Honestly because it was in the opening paragraph of the description provided by C4. Don't shoot the messenger, but it was to sell the show more I guess. Although father buying their daughter sex maybe more disturbing for many.

Yes, why is it that men are not allowed to give it good to the society... rats, I mean, to give good to the society.

Why not if that's what she wants? The alternative is to deny her the pleasure of sex.
