A court ruled that Michelle Gildernew was duly elected as MP for Fermanagh and South Tyrone. The unionists must be muttering curses that the Shinners have put one over them yet again. Now I wonder what theory's will Criumh and the gang try to come up with to try and portray this as a unionist 'victory' ? :)

Sad that the people of Fermanagh South Tyrone, in a time of economic crisis, will continue to be without a say in the United Kingdom's government.

She won by a few votes and basically it was a very few votes;

but thats democracy for you- you either love it and abide by it,

or you disregard it, just like shame fein and their criminal wing did.

Funny how shame fein are going to Court in the south saying that Donegal

is without effective representation because of the lack of by-election

- yet the shame fein MP's refusalto take their seats in Parliament doesnt seem to

cross their mind.

Not bad going for the provos considering the bigotry of the local unionist community in standing a single candidate.

She won by 4 votes :). What's the point of SF taking their seats at Westminister. To go there to be told by the Brit MP's that " Ulsta is British " ?

Congratulations on beating the undemocratic "Unionist unity" candidate.

Serves them right for treating their electorate like a herd instead of giving them a democratic choice.

As for Westminster, last time I watched the NI section on television the whole chamber treated it like a lunch break, constantly being told to be quiet etc.
It's such an ignorant place which merely degrades politicians from here and exposes how little they care about this place.

It serves no purpose being there, the Tories inflict whatever they want here and no-one can stop them.
This is the Tories who ran for election here and won ZERO seats.
Why should SF waste their time in there being dictated to?

Their electorate chose SF supporting their decision not to waste their time in London, that's democracy.
The SDLP should do the same.
What are they at walking past that statue of Cromwell and taking an oath to the Queen, this is 2010 Irish Republicans aren't interested in the extremist British politics which are stuck in silly imperial time warp.

They should be more interested in the EU, where people can discuss matters in a civilised manner and actually enforce change.

They had a democratic choice. They could either vote for somebody who would represent them or somebody who wouldn't. They chose somebody who wouldn't. Are you suggesting we should have no say in parliament? That sounds despotic to me.

Unionists were told who to vote for, they had 1 candidate.
Gladly this backfired.

Yes I am saying we should have no say in that Parliament, I suggest you worry about where you live instead of Britain.
I believe we should run our own affairs, not sit swamped amongst British politicians who outnumber us vastly and exert their reckless unsuitable policies on us.

As a voter that's what I want, us to look after our own interests.
I don't exist to serve them and I don't think anyone from here should waste their time in Westminster.

It might have escaped your notice, but the people of Fermanagh South Tyrone did have their say. And it so happens they don't want it to be in London.

Ah it's the sad pr!ck.com arís; still whining about SF actually implementing their promise not to take seats in London, but to stay in Ireland's 2nd city to represent their growing band of voters.

Well done young Gildernew; I rem your granny starting the Civil Rights struggle by standing up, like Rosa Parks, against bigotry. You are a credit to her.

Michelle is a worthy successor to the heroic Bobby Sands MP, who was the 1st person I ever voted for. WooHoo!

I thought that when you lot surrendered and agreed to stop murdering people at the GFA

that you accepted that the majority of people in Ulster want to be part of the
United Kingdom,

Michelle to her credit has clean hands- she never murdered or robbed anyone,

are you really comparing this fine upstanding citizen with a man who

was attempting to murder a fellow Irish man.

Sands is no hero- you revisionist are certainly working hard to

glorify yet another convicted criminal.

You Lot?

I wasn't even born for most of the Troubles, is your lot Billy Wrights crew?

Also there's 9 counties in Ulster so your analysis is incorrect, but that's hardly surprising.

The people of that area was always a great supporter of the republican murder campaign. Its no surprise they now vote for the spin off from that.

Taking it a bit thick aren't you?

Get used to losing seats.

The Orange state is dead.

They lost it long ago, even their joint "unionist unity" crap couldn't win it back.

Roll on next election.

The fact you werent born for most of the criminal campaign explains a lot-

those of us of a certain vintage will tell you about how we used to dread

waking up every morning to hear about the deaths of more innocent Irish

people- whether they be Catholic, Protestant, Hindu, Orange, Green or

anything- and even now I still dread Tommy Gorman because I associate

his voice with the worst of it, and that was perpetuated by both sides.

When you ask me if my lot is billy wrights- its only fair to you that I identify

who my lot are- my lot are the vast vast majority of people both sides

of this island- who never ever asked either the ira/inla or uvf/uda or

anyone else to go out and kill- torture- rape- rob- terrorise- hurt

fellow Irish people. My lot are the vast majority who begged them to

stop- my lot are the people who adopted democracy not when it suited us

but because its the way it should be- my lot are the people who were ignored

by the holiday homes in donegal lot. My lot are the people who still

view the massacres at Grey Steel- Omagh- Claudy- Darkley- Derry

and the thousands more and the individual deaths of fellow Irish people

whether they be Catholic- Protestant- GAA- Orange Order

as a shame on the whole Island that will never go away until the likes

of Ferris and McGuinness- and anyone else with blood on their hands

are a distant memory.

Thats who my lot are- and I know there is an actual group that comes

under the heading my lot- because if you look around at the amount of people

north and south who never supported the terrorists or who have since

rejected the terrorists- then you will know that my lot

are much greater than that lot.

I never supported them, you named me "their lot".

You're the one carrying conflict style stereotypes around.

St333ve,

You raise an interesting point

If we take the 9 counties of Ulster and say

that the vast majority of them wish to be part of the UK

would that be factually incorrect,

I am asking a question on this one- rather than making a statement.
