Israeli and international leaders have suggested creative ways of improving life in Gaza. Which do you think is the most promising?

I think the proposal to re-open the port is perhaps the best idea in the immediate to short-term. Maybe they could negotiate through the A) Fellowship of Mothers for longer-term objectives such as a permanent cessation to violence, prisoner releases and a phased return of refugees who could live and work in new towns which would be built in phases, perhaps by the Palestinians themselves, alongside agricultural enterprises in the C) Negev. The survey in B) found that more women in Israel support the plight of the refugees than men.

Hamas to declare that:
- it doesn't want to exterminate all Israelis
- it doesn't want to wipe Israel off the map
- it will devote its efforts to improving the lot of Gazans rather than attacking Israelis
- it will cease incitement against Israelis
- it will cease launching missiles against southern Israeli communities
- it will take action against other terrorist groups that do this
- it will no longer send its young people to try to infiltrate the Gaza-Israel border

Faced with such declarations, it would be hard for the Israelis not to respond positively.

CNN recently had an excerpt where it said Hamas were moving toward accepting a two state solution. This was also stated by Haniyeh in 2006 which was dismissed by Israel. Ultimately Israel will have to talk to Hamas just as the Unionists had to talk to SF in NI. One of the mistakes of the 2006 withdrawal is it was unilateral rather than negotiated.

I think it's possible Gaza and the West Bank will have to go their separate ways in a three state solution. The port should be reopened but it is reasonable to verify weapons aren't getting in as part of an interim deal which should mean an end to the blockade.

First thing that needs to happen, is for Ireland to but out of it.

Gaza would be best being reabsorbed by Egypt.

West Bank would be best if Jordan took back their territory which they refused to take back after the 6 day war.

That would be the starting points.
