Distressed man leads to discovery of 23 ‘slaves’ in Meath

Thursday was an uneventful day at Cassidy’s Tyre Centre, at the side of the R162 in Castletown, near Nobber in Co Meath – until a middle-aged man made a run for the garage from a cottage over a kilometre away, clutching a piece of paper.
On it, was written the address of the house, from which he was running, and just two other words – “help” and “garda”.
Within hours of the frightened man, with little or no English, scuttling into Paul Cassidy’s shed-like garage and cowering in a corner, hiding among a pile of used tyres – a Garda helicopter was hovering over the cottage and an armed support unit, two Garda dog units, about 30 gardaí and a fleet of patrol cars had surrounded it.
...
He was frightened, oh, he was frightened,” Paul Cassidy said Friday, recalling the events of 24 hours earlier.
“This poor divil was frightened. Every car that slowed down at all [on the road outside], he was burying himself into the corner.”
...
“You don’t really know what’s going on around you, you really don’t, and you don’t like to get involved.”
23 people rescued...and you see...some within the Gardaí are good

That so much badness has been allowed to fecundly fester in our little country...is a shame

This is just the tip of the iceberg...sure...incompetence ...chiefly by virtue of "genepool" "who you know" favoritism of the golden circle jerks has been the foreground that allows this to happen ...but in the background Machiavellian Svengalis lie...mostly watching...sometimes pulling the puppet strings

Disgraceful, a true shame upon all Irish that this was allowed to happen.

A very distressing story! And despite TORLERS seeing trafficked sex workers around every corner, there is no hint of anybody being trafficked for sexual exploitation in this case!

I suppose Putin owns the factory, eh cYp? :p
That's the worst thing ...the Moditariat will act on any claimed darklord's orders

So if Daniel O'Donnell can make a mediocre attempt at being Putin ...they'll fall for it

It is the incompetence of the Moditariat ...coupled with their dark urges...that means...they are anyone's biatch

The mess we are in.
Don't despair - once a bit of detail comes out, surely you'll be able to identify at least one of the poor b@stards as an ISIS agent.

I know you'll try ever so hard.

Is there any link with Denis O Brien we can use?

If there's any link to Denis...the Moditariat will viciously shut everything down

The funny thing is ? All bar 3 of them do it for free ...just like the tens of thousands of other true believers in the Status Quo

I bet that they are all actually Irish people who were sent there as part of Job Bridge and were worked so hard that they suffered some kind of breakdown. These lazy scroungers need to stop complaining and earn that 25 quid.

Well done M. Cassidy and the Garda.

I personally believe there is a lot more of this in Ireland. It needs to be tackled.

Yep - It is completely implausible that 23 slaves can be hidden in rural Ireland

Years ago I would have agreed with you. Now in a lot of areas it has become possible. Part of the damage done by the neoliberals from Fianna Fail during the Tiger years.

By the way, I see that the Irish Times is using American English -

"Paul Cassidy said Friday" - strange thing to say

"vehicles parked to the rear of the property Friday" - odd name for property

I would say this is the tip of the iceberg

- we really do need at this stage an All Ireland Immigration Service with powers of arrest and investigation

- into the comings and goings of people not from this island

I would say there literally thousands of people here now who being daily exploited by their own types into working for literally nothing or next to nothing

But the Gardaí I'm afraid have been told to go easy on all this so as not to upset the Business interests

- and our own home grown 'internationalist socialists'

It would be convenient if every group of people you dislike were in league with each other so that you could have one prejudice to cover them all - but the world ain't like that. It's multi-faceted.

If any employer, Irish or foreign, is involved they should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law and publicly exposed and held to full account as undermining our societal norms. What is the chance of that happening in reality?

And you can be damn sure if it is a foreign gang of criminals holding these people, media reportage will be downplayed as well unless they can find a sex angle to it so that some migration advocacy group or other can blow their trumpets loudly and in the process seek to jusify more funding from any source.

I didn't say they were me ol flower

- but its obvious that Mass Immigration into Ireland has been allowed to continue unchecked since circa 2000 or so

- and very little investigation into its consequences or downsides

Most of the 'International Socialists' here are drawn from the same Classes as the International Capitalists

No surprise they both support a 'No Borders' agenda

- regardless of the consequences for ordinary workers

- Irish or Foreign
