Sligo-North Leitrim has no FF TDs but, instead of being rewarded, it is being punished by the Coalition.

First cancer services were moved to Galway, 100 miles away, despite promises to the contrary by Gilbore, Burton etc.

Now, we have the impending transfer of teacher training from St Angela's College to NUI Galway. Once, teacher training goes the rest of the college's services will follow.

Apart from FF's opportunist Marc MacSharry, there has not been a word from our politicians. Are they going to roll over again?

Fianna Fail were a bit like The Late Late Show. One for every constituency in the country. No wonder we're bankrupt.

So in fact, you are lauding the government for implementing policy without regard for local political concerns or the next election.

Hear hear!

Sounds like an opportunity for an opportunist and his Daddy to put together a team of, err, investors and buy the place...

Sorry to hear part of St Angela's being moved to Galway. There is already undue concentration of services in Galway

They are being punished for electing no Labour TD's. Labour and the urban progressive elite have nothing but contempt for the rest of us outside the pale.

Well here in Castlebar, home of His Bewilderness, An Taoiseach, we are up to our necks in beautiful new roads, footpaths, streets lights the like of which I have never seen before but they look like free standing huge oblongs, parks being dickied out, new bridge over Lough Lannagh, new community centre in the process of being built on Rowan Drive, but the hospital is still crap.

I honestly think that it's all a plot to kill of those of us who use Medical Cards. In a bunker somewhere, some years ago, the eFFers, Fine Gael and that dinosaur shower, they're extinct now, what were they called, oh yeah, the P.D.s got together and agreed to this plan. They waited until Labour were in coalition before they broke the news to them. Gilmore cried and screamed "NEVER", but then they showed him his expenses cheque and his pay-rise for being the Tánaiste and he hung his head and said, "Ireland expects",and we did and we got what we expected from Labour. Fúck all!

Ah yeah Owl but do ya not understand, its a subtle policy being implemented by Minister Ring, that if we provide enough facilities to encourage people to exercise around Castlebar there'll theoretically be less demand on the facilities at MGH!

Doubt it,SligoNtLeitrim is a very conservative part of the country. The Blueshirts and FFailure get well over 70% of the vote between them consistently at every election since the foundation of the state, with the recent announcement that the constituency was to take in the rural heartlands of Nt Roscommon,SthLeitrim,SthDonegal(portion of)and West Cavan, this definitely guarantees one seat at least for FFailure,in fact at the last election they gifted a seat in SligoNthLeitrim to SF by splitting their vote by running two candidates.I can't see them repeating the same mistake next time.

True.

But on the other hand the building is an ugly tumour in an rural area of outstanding natural beauty that would never have got planning permission in any country on earth. It could never be viable out there in the countryside, and the sooner somebody bites the bullet the better.

Are you sniggering at the fact that the NW is being decimated by politicians and economists whose only care in the world is to save taxes so they can help fill the bellies and pockets of the already well to do. Do you care not a jot for the trail of destruction left behind by these same incompetent politicians?

What a delicate use of language, Radix!

Sometimes you can definitely be a gent!
