Ben Dunne has come up with an idea to end the mortgage crisis.

Apparently he came up with the idea at midday today, yet he has access to the airways, within 2 hours.

Dunne thinks people in mortgage trouble should leave the country and go bankrupt :)

That's his idea.

MOD EDIT: You can listen to a recording of the show being discussed here.

"The only way you deal with banks is from a position of strength. You go to your bank and say this is what our plan is, Mr Bank Manager; do me a deal or I am leaving the country"

Or something like that.

I've an idea. Maybe Ben could fund a 200k extension on my house; I could then sell the house and wipe out all my negative equity :)

Maybe Michael Lowry should be made Minister for Finance.
Don't snort at it.

Simple but brilliant. I can see the queues forming already.

I don't think its as easy as that. Now, if you threatened to emigrate altogether they'd have to listen to you... if you could convince them your serious.

The amount of people who would actually go through with such a move is fairly insignificant so the banks would just laugh at you until you actually have the tickets booked and then they'll turn around to the govt and ask for more money.

A mortgage strike would be far easier than everyone leaving the country, Ben

Lines, my good man. The Dunster doesn't speak of queues"; "lines" feature more prominently in his life.

Does he dare say "We've all paid through our noses over the years".
