Ironic that Renua's website was claiming to be hosted in Ireland but a tweet pointed out that it was actually hosted in the UK. Perhaps Renua is hoping to capture some the Southern Unionist vote? :)
They’ve got that wrapped up, combined with the conservative Wiccan movement and the socialists for upper class tax breaks organisationZ

I'm amazed how many people are attributing their poor performance with a notion that people want abortion etc. The labour party made the most out of the abortion issue but got wiped out...
This post (page 1) aged incredibly badly.

Okay, thanks fair enough didnt know that but **** her, and **** renua, they are weak as water, they didn't get out there, they did as much door to door work as the national party ,a bucket of piss. How are nats supposed to get anywhere if they keep cutting each other down and poaching from each other instead of uniting? What are they beyond a twitter page?? No nat party will agree on the small issues, but the bigger stuff is what's important the big picture and all that. We need solutions, practical solutions as to why they are not getting the votes, - too many nat parties to begin w. Even look at that batty one gemma o Doherty, she keeps going on about anti-vax, which to some extent she has a point, but the ian bailey thing??And the chemtrails, not everyone will jump on board with that, you need to keep it clean and simple. Unite people! Unite the vote! We need one focused nat party , not a million of them!

And managed to win one solitary local election seat, Sarah O'Reilly in Cavan. No seats in Peadar Toibín's Meath.

Not looking too good for Aontu either, is it?
Eh, they topped the poll in Navan where Toibin's sister won a seat. They won 3 seats in the south and one in the north. They hit the bar in a few other places. Are you getting your info from An Phoblacht or what?

Apologies, I looked at the Journal and missed those two and forgot about the doctor from Derry.

Did they have more councillors going into the election than than after the election?

Either way, do you really see this as a platform for winning seats in a GE? 3 seats out of 949 in the Republic and 1 out of 462 in NI?

Admittedly, they're doing better than Renua, but not that much better.

I don't know if they had more councillors going in, I haven't followed them closely at all, but I would be astonished if Toibin didn't retain his seat at the very least.

Is if fair to say that, adding together Aontu, Renua, National Party, Irish Freedom Party, Direct Democracy Ireland and Gemma O'D, it doesn't amount to a hill of beans. Much messianic ranting online, with no real-world impact at all.

Peter Casey is about the most successful on that broad side of the equation. But even he just manages a respectable showing, not an actual result.

So, yeah, if folk actually want to have a meaningful political movement, they'd want to start distinguishing between delusion and reality.

If they did, would there actually be a platform left?

Renua have excellent Life bona fides but are off the wall in their heartless economic policies.
They don't really - Renua initially had a lot of pro-choice candidates before Creighton flounced after she got a beating at the ballot box. Leahy's attempt to make them out as a pro-life party was pure electioneering that has led to no increase in support for them.

I doubt it. FF wouldn't care. Leahy has realised Renua are ballot box poison and wants to be better positioned as a Independent in the next GE. Hopefully, Renua can now be disbanded and forgotten about.
he specifically says he left Renua in order to join the council control group... unless others in Renua would object to him joining a controlling group with FF????
