A planned economy based around human need not profit, catering for free health care, education, full housing etc, committed to ending competition driven tendencies like racism, sexism, prejudice and war.
Ireland could surely do with a system like the above and in conjunction with other comradely nations could become what Connolly called 'a beacon to the world'.
Still our country has some of the most vehement and passionate opponents of Socialism, cynical in the extreme even on basic concepts of socio-economic solidarity.
Why?
