For all you convinced about how the leftie PS Unions operate heres an article from Blair Horan of the CPSU.

Now be prepared for a major shock, hang on tight now....

He's actually worried that some of his members may actually be SOCIALISTS.

I know, calm down, fan the overly faint women who may be amongst your midst. It's true, union leader fears his members might actually be socialists.

Well holy God.

Socialists operated inside union, Horan - The Irish Times - Sun, Jan 13, 2013

That's your threat from the public sector unions who hold the government to ransom.

Hold the front page. Socialists on trade union committees.

Nice to see Horan dissociating himself from that kind of thing.

We should set up a Senate enquiry where he can testify.

You couldn't make this kind of thing up.

That guy in the IMO did a perverted service by bringing the L'oreal culture of trade union officials to its logical conclusion. Where Con Scanlon led , that man
excelled him.

Socialism in Ireland died with Jim Kemmy, what we have are just extreme lefty liberals posing as socialists. Gilmore has taken quite a pretty penny from the public purse while supporting a Two Tier pay structure in the nursing profession? that is not socialism, it is gerrymandering.

How have Labour taken on the banks, overpaid consultants, bloated public spending, implementing job creation policies that work and reformed social welfare? nada !

All they have done is spend their time pushing abortion/gay marriage/attacking the CC.

If it looks like liberalism, smells like liberalism, acts like liberalism then it probably is liberalism, socialism it certainly is not.

Don't think anyone would ever have mistaken Blair for a socialist. A good straightforward self server.

Spamming the forum isn't very nice Dresden. There is an established thread on this aready...
Really? Where?

I'd happily give way to a thread where a Union chief gave out that some of his union members were, omfg I still can't believe it, "SOCIALISTS".

I mean, what's the world coming to when a union leader finds SOCIALISTS in his midst.

GUBU ain't got nothing on it.

He's not complaining about them being socialists. He's complaining about them exerting disproportionate influence and peddling their political agenda ahead of advancing members' interests. It's a common phenomenon. He should just be happy that, unlike in one of his sister unions in the UK, the Socialist Party doesnt seem to have taken total control.

Oh my God! Do you mean that there could be cliques who have their own agendas in a union????

Yup, it's terrible, isnt it? Not everyone feels the need to do this but it's especially common amongst the micro-left sects.

Who woulkd have know. PS union only serving its own interests. I don't have an issue with that but it would appear to conflict with the impression they like to portray - they are the guardians of every worker.
They are like any other group of people or organisation--like your local Residents' Association, or Parents' Association.

Or like P.ie

There will be power-mongers, cliques, the odd looper.....but in general the organisation will be kept going by good, quiet, hard-working people who try to get things done, while at the same time trying to keep the loopers and power-mongers in line....or away from where they can inflict too much damage...

Good to see that Horan had the ace of "lunatics" up his well-tailored sleeve when he was negotiating with the Dept. of Finance...can you imagine what might have happened if Lefties had interfered with the fantastic job the Government was doing during the Celtic Tiger years......we'd be f***ed now, that's for sure!!!!

And it would be passing strange if an ex-member of the WP couldn't see a faction working to its own ideological agenda and taking over the larger organisation from within...the WP would know nothing about that sort of thing.
