Is this thread a joke? A band wants to halt an extradition?

Bands are made up of individuals who have voices and a right to use them. There is a long tradition of musicians, actors and others in the public eye taking up causes. Sean already has received widespread support from a range of public figures, including musicians. These include Pete Seeger, the veteran US folk singer and activist; Irish folk singer and activist Christy Moore; and singer / songwriter John Spillane.

It is a Jok LeDroit -a Joke that there is an application to extradite this man.

A Joke too that a party like the one you probably support should remain silent about it.

Well done to those involved in the arts who dare to speak out about such acts of injustice!

The extradition proceedings against Sean Garland are politically motivated and should be opposed by all workers. I applaud the band for keeping the issue in the public mind.

is he the guy who was allegedly involved with distributing fake 100 dollar bills? surely if he has nothing to hide he should fly to the US himself and clear up the matter, then he could be back in Ireland in jig time.

Obviously the concept of a fair trial escapes you. Foreign communists mentioned in the same breath as the DPRK are of course guaranteed a fair trial in the US. Or not.

They're a good band. Although a bit mental by all accounts ( a friend used to play with them).

Their best track is "mao tse-tsung said" with the repeated refrain "political power comes from the barrel of a gun". I suppose appropriate, in some sense, to this case.

Incidentally, when is this thing going to be resolved? It seems to have been dragging on for ages, and the evidence seems pretty simple.

FWIW I dont think he should be extradited. Hes too old. However I think some of the claims about political interference are laughable eg "the americans are doing this as the WP opposed the Iraq war" or "the government are doing this to distract people from the banking crisis" etc.
