The renegade Free State army (deserts and betrays an organization, country, or set of principles) that are now called the Defence Forces, have been defending England's interests in the 'Southern Ireland' State since they were formed under the terms of the 1921 treaty. We should abolish the army. Many nations have. Who do we need defending from ? We just need a couple hundred or a thousand armed guards.
What is the story with housing/accommodation for the DF? I know in the UK Junior Officers and enlisted personal have access to heavily subsidised accommodation which can include meals at very favourable rates. Outside of that there is also very cheap housing available for the married and more senior personal. Surly something like that is or should be in place here?No but I do believe the uniformed services should have subsidized or government built housing. Would keep the budget down.
How do you suggest the DF respond to a Chapter 7 UN deployment ? With an iPod ?Do we need more than 2,000 guys capable of firing bits of lead into somebody?
Surely the next conflict will be about hacking computers to destroy grids and systems? Defence means defending our systems, end of.
Drones on sea patrol. Ships in harbour until needed.
Pesco and all that is about the french selling us arms systems that will never be used.
