Steve Bannon, Chief Strategist in the Donald Trump administration grew up in a working class, Irish Catholic family in Virginia were pro-Kennedy, pro-union Democrats were held in high esteem. Is Steve now an example of the backlash the Irish catholic diaspora in the US has produced in the last decades. When did it all go wrong for Steve? Is he just another victim of an old tradition formed by an authoritarian religion?

A lot of the names being heard in connection with Trump seem to be Irish Americans :) : Bannon, Kellyanne Conway (née Fitzpatrick), Sean Spicer, Pence, Speaker Paul Ryan and even Trump's recent nominee Neil Gorsuch (through his mother)

Economically Bannon is very left wing. He wants 1930's style protectionism and soviet style state involvement in industry. His reaction against the Democrats is based on them being too right wing economically.

You're probably right, the craven Paddy only wants to recognise as Irish people who fit into their ideal. Well I have news for Paddy Irish and Irish Americans come in all shapes, sizes and hold all sorts of political opinions.

Don't you have a right to choose with whom you wish to sup? And if you do, don't others?

Of course one has the right to "choose with whom one sups" but that does not erase the heritage and background of the people excluded from the supper. They are still as Irish as Father O'Malley parish priest in Brooklyn.

We should do a deal with them and divvy the place up between us.
The idea is to keep on pretending that the Jews control the media, banking etc. when it's really us.

It'll be fabulous. It'll be amazing. No-one does pretence like us. Believe me.
