It's a sh*thole as is Temple Street. Holles Street, the Rotunda and Coombe are also sh*tholes.

Vincents and Tallaght are in reasonable condition and at least not filthy dirty. The hospitals above should be levelled to the ground, i wouldnt put a dog in them.
I disagree with that. A young relation of mine has been treated recently in Crumlin. His parents are loud in praise of the staff and treatment.
That TD could afford to have her child treated privately without abusing the scarce facilities in A and E

She was defending the staff Ergo not abusing them.

A case of wanting to have her cake and eat it I think.

Sit on the government benches but whinge about services like an opposition TD.
Exactly. Her party is in government and she is talking like a commentator. Then again Varadkar is a specialist in doing the same.

Ur doing a diservice to the staff by not pointing out the horrific conditions in both crumlin and temple st. I'm no fan of Kate but Crumlin is a dump as in Temple St. Our kids deserve better.

I dont know how anyone who has spent time in either hospital could dispute this. Thats not a criticism of the staff but it is reality.

We spend too much money on the dept of health. The doctors, nurses, management etc are inefficient. It needs reform but without increasing expenditure.

Been in A&E about 5 times in last 2 years (not for me) and always seen to within 15 minutes. Then had to wait to get treatment, averaged an hour.

I have my suspicions about this politician story. She waited 7 hours without ANYBODY seeing her child? Also, why leave a hospital if your child has an emergency?

The next General Election isn’t far away, she can give the “I know how you feel” reply now, plus her profile has been raised without getting on a swing.

Do you want to pay more taxes to pay for new hospitals and presumably more doctors and nurses ? You personally, not other people.

We already spend above the OECD average on health. The problem is not a lack of spending it is gross mismanagement and inefficiency.

Other countries have managed to build hospitals for a fraction of the cost we are spending on the most expensive 2nd rate hospital in the world.

Do you wish to pay more taxes to hire more HSE managers and build private consulting rooms for medical consultants in a " public" hospital?

Anyway both Temple St and Crumlin are complete sh*tholes no point pretending otherwise.

Union vested interests operating restrictive work practices that are eating into the budget is the problem, not funding.

Indeed like most of our public services the health service exists for the benefit of those employed within it rather than those supposedly receiving the service.

Unfortunately this ends up biting many of those working in it also as they end up having to put up with terrible working conditions in order to subsidise all the freeloaders.

Our political class have effectively given up on reforming our health service as indeed have large parts of the population who purchase private medical insurance. More HSE managers anyone?!!!@
