Ted Mallock has been interviewed dozens of times on UK media about his role as Trump's pick for EU Ambassador. UK media loved him because he said mean things about the EU, for example, describing it as a new USSR (and claiming he had a role in bringing down the original version).

Mallock, the media told us, was a former UN ambassador, a senior professor in Oxford, etc etc.

Unfortunately, it was all made up. When the FT decided to do some research, they found out he is a con-man. Trumps team has never heard of him, he was never a UN official, parts of his autobiography are fictional, and he's under investigation for an unconnected $5m bank fraud.

Whats most extraordinary about his is that clearly the UK media does zero vetting or background research on any of the people they wheel out in front of the cameras. How did this guy get on the TV? He paid a publicist.

As Trump might say #sad #fakenews.

Regardless of his credentials... Ted comes across as a total creep...

As for the UK media... they've always been dodgy but have completely lost the plot since Brexit...

For the most part they fawn over anyone who's pro-Brexit.

Unfortunately the right-wing corporate media not doing their jobs properly just feeds into Trump's "fake news" meme, making morons believe Trump is telling the Truth and all media (outside the alt-reality websites like Breitbart) is lying to them.

Countries are not obligated to accept ambassadorial credentials of other nations.
The onus doesn't rely on one or other country when it comes to diplomatic relations.

The Obama administration first accepted the ambassadorial credentials of Sergey Kislyak
in 2008.
The same administration renewed Kislyak's credentials throughout 2008-2016.

This is the blurb for another of this guy's books. Wonder did he write it himself.

"“Ted Malloch—bon vivant, scholar, diplomat, businessman, sportsman … brings us along on some of his greatest adventures.” —Linda Bridges, Editor-at-Large, National Review

A former Yale professor and senior business executive whose contact list includes the most powerful leaders in business, media and politics, Ted Malloch has seen it all, done it all, and now is telling all. From his appointment as sergeant in the Toilet Patrol (reserved for children deemed “gifted”) to his appointment as scholar-diplomat by the US State Department to a peek behind the curiosity curtain at the Davos meeting to how he lost millions in the dot-com bubble to his one-person seminar for the chairman of Toyota, it’s all here. With names.

In Davos, Aspen, and Yale, Malloch presents a humorous and witty take on his life experiences in this unique and riotous account. Masterfully woven throughout the stories are insights on his driving passion: enterprise, organization, dedication, skill, teamwork, diligence, and planning. The virtues that drive an uncommon life are illustrated throughout—as are stories of those who have abandoned those virtues. He’s not afraid to name names; many well-known leaders play parts in this can’t-put-down-and-get-back-to-work “WASPY" tale. Malloch demonstrates how his Christian faith and spiritual capital have motivated and guided his purpose and higher calling."

Authors often do write the blurb themselves.

Sounds like Trump should give him the job, so - he'd fit right in with the rest of the administration.

Yes indeed, but is the UK media any worse than the Irish lot, or any other country come to that? And it was the UK media that spotted the con, why did nobody else if it was that obvious?

We are very poorly served by the vast majority of the news media nowadays, whatever its type or origin.

A dysfunctional white house doesn't call out someone passing himself off as an ambassador designate ? Or now that they have found out from the medis that he is a scam artist they have decided not to appoint him ?

It's fake news. How can they deny it? :)
